Possible Curing Issues

Okay so first grow. Just harvested 3 days ago. Dried buds for 48 hours. Outside of buds were crispy and the stems still bent without breaking. They have been in jars for 12 hours. no moisture at all in the jar. Are they too dry? Can i moisten them back up? Will this affect my out come? Please Help....

sounds like they dried too quickly in the 48 hrs. how were you initially drying them? what was the r/h and temp? what kind of airflow was the drying area receiving?

you won't see the moisture in the jar, but you will be able to feel the moisture in the buds. i would recommend you continue on with the curing process and use the feel of the bud as a measure of the moisture content.

If the stems bend, the flowers will rehydrate and the moisture will redistribute itself. It's a matter of time, typically a few days.

A good start would be to read Sticky's thread on harvesting and curing. 48 hrs dry time is way too quick.

Not necessarily - plants will dry at vastly different time frames based of your local relative humidity.
48 hours is my average dry time prior to jarring, and my product is as good as any I have sampled.

Don’t just spew generalizations if you don’t know of what you speak.

Take a small piece of bread and leave it in jar over night, ganj will absorb and regain what it lost..water content should be 10-15%.

Dude if your stems did not snap as you say they only bent your bud is not to dry i stake my word on it and the longer the stay in the jar the will be fine as a matter of fact i think only two days of drying is not enough if you left your buds on the main stems!!Check one of your buds cut it up or try to break it up and see if there is still moisture deep inside if so you are going to be ok

thanks for all the replies. All help is much appreciated. How do i go about knowing the rh in the jar. i have meters but those wont fit. ???

Okay buds have been in jars for about a little over 12 hours. I checked them and they are feeling moist again. Not crispy at all now like they were when i put them in. I know they rehydrate during this process. I will burp the jar for about 20 mins and check them again. Just really don't want to mess it up. First grow ever. Finished product...Not much but one plant small grow. Not the best pictures sorry.6-01-2011 024.jpg6-01-2011 014.jpg
