I'm wondering if I grew too horizontally.
I have three hybrids (Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Chocolate Grape Diesel and Strawberry Banana) in 3rd week. They had compact bushy internodes through veg and I performed a lot of LST to achieve a very wide and uniform canopy for all three. However, I overgrew my 22"x44" space filling the SCROG fully at the time I flipped to flower. Stretch into week 3 only gave me about 4" hedge above the net and now the field is populated with ~50-60 sugar cube sized buds on the 4" tops that form the canopy. Heading towards week-0 I had defoliated what I could about 5% per day but could not fully lollipop up to the canopy underside in time. There is probably 5" of vegetation below I'm wary of doing any more defoliation this late into flower.
The canopy is thick, plants are very healthy IMO but I am wondering if I went too wide and will expect a crop of short buds as I go into weeks 8-12 (depending on strain & conditions.)

- How long might buds grow above the canopy after stretch?
- Do buds only fill into the stretch zone downward or do they actually elongate additionally upward from week3 into week8+?
