Poly and reflectors

Which way should I mount the light?

Hey boys, second grow and a new room design. I purchased a 400w HPS, and I had a ton of black and white poly. With a limited room space of 2ft x 7ft x 5.5ft.

I lined the space with black and white poly, covers the ground, roof and all 4 side walls. The 400w fixture I purchased came with a cheap parabolic light reflector. Can I skip the reflector and just straight bulb the room, using the benifits of the white poly to do the reflecting? Would I be better with or without the reflector?

i'd use the reflector for sure. the poly will help reflect the light that hits the side walls and the reflector will reflect the light that woould otherwise go upwards. best of both worlds :)

Any others? I'm just thinking of how long the room is... It's probably more like 8-9ft long... If I bare bulb it, I can move the light up and down the room to get more equal penetration.

I'm in favour of the reflector...don't bare bulb unless you're doing a vertical grow or you will be wasting light. Bare bulbing will result in poor penetration and you wouldn't want that!

I vote for the reflector and a light mover.

A 400w isn't going to cover a 7ft length.

If you want to maximise your rooms potential, then IMO the way to go is using a rail which moves the lamp across the entire length.

I'm contemplating a light mover at some point in my own room which is 3.2x7x8ft with my 400w.

The reflector seems to be a fair amount to big.. Maybe 2.5ft when I put it together. Should i just take off a couple of the side pieces to make it smaller?

Also was thinking about putting the new 400w bulb in my 2x4 closet.. And using the 600w with the reflector in the new longer space.
