hey i have a hermie amongst my 2 plants... im wondering can i just trim back the pollen sacs.. i hear they will just come back.. but if i inspect em daily and continue to cut em back.... would that help to eliminate/or cut back on the amount of seeds infecting my crop??? thanks for all your help....!!!!

i know its not the traditional method... just wanting to let these bud up before i start with my feminized seeds i just got...

worth a try at least but you'll probably miss one or two somewhere.

even if i only miss one or two, hoping i wont,(wheres ur faith?haha) that should give me alot less chance of having those seed infested buds.. correct? by seed infested i mean when u break it n a gang of seeds drop... im not to worried about one or 2 seeds...

dare to dream... one flower could pollinate hundreds of flowers if a fan is blowing in the right direction.

I am sure every strain is different. I stressed mine to hermie, and all their clones do the same. It is not real bad, I watch and trim, they grow back...Mine are small and dry (stamens) and never open up. I get a seed or two per plant on my K-Train and Headband, My Red Diesel, was worse and is no longer in the garden.

It seems as though some of the stamens have had difficulty bursting out of the female calyx and have pollinated themselves within the calyx.

The two remaining strains are too good to trash.

Yeah, get rid of it. Like my girlfriend keeps reminding me, "males are good for nothing.....espcially since she has 5 dollars and can buy fresh D batteries".

How early are you seeing the bananas? If they are just starting to flower, it will not be worth even trying.

my plants are about 2 weeks into flowering... just pulled all the pollen sacs off... imma just keep trying to check the hermie every morning for new balls and pluck them too....

Good luck with that for the next month or more. If you don't have any other plants and that is your only one in the flowering chamber, then I guess its ok. However if there is even the slightest chance of it pollinating any other plants, then its better off dead or at least outside.

by the time i found out mine was a hermie it already had alot of balls and one open one..... i look every day now and cut them back and spray with water cause water kills pollin........

To the OP and MRCool dude...I would say you are seeing them far earlier and at least MrCool, more abundant than you can probably deal with. Mr.Cool's pics show equal if not more staminate growth than pistilate (the male flowers are more developed than the female preflowers in the pic) I would absolutely cut my losses at this point. It will get far worse, and you will reach a point of frustration where you can not keep up and cut them early anyway. As for the OP at 2 weeks I would also not fight it. Take a cutting of the non hermie if you have not already and compost the cross dresser!

Note: the bananas that I see never swell and open up, even if I have not caught them, they just seem to dry, shrivel and at worst polinate that spot only (not airbourne, despite lots of air movement)

I am extrermely interested in opinions as to the cause of the mutation. I believe mine were from a long unnatural light schedule (24/0 for 8 weeks) as this is at least the major common denominator across 3 strains that I have managed to f'up at the same time.

guess it would have been beneficial to have pics up...... neways... mine are alot more "female" than the pics above... my one def. female has been cloned and is in another closet vegging... i have picked the sacs off and will try to continue to do it everyday... i have excellent looking buds on the hermie... thats why i dont wanna kill it... my reason for letting it grow on is.... i am germinating other attitude seeds that are feminized and i still have to veg them... i figure i may as well let these 2 (hermie and the girl) finish flowering so i have something descent to smoke on untill my og kush / pineapple express / and the church are ready to flower n bud up... does that make sense to anyone? or am i just sounding retarded? im looking at it as... have a bit of semi-seedy chronic untill my other def girls are ready to bud.. beats ripping em up and having to smoke this same old commercial for 3 more months! hopefully that sheds a lil more light on the situation... thanks for all ur replies tho!!!

i have my clones / veg room set on 24/0.. my sacs didnt dry up... some were about to bust open.. but really didnt untill i plucked em then i just got a gang of pollen on my hand.......

one more question... i read if u have a hermie... take pollen from a hermie and pollenate a female i hear all the seeds will be feminized... is this true? is that how they make fem'd seeds??? thanks

Yes, but I have been accused of being retarded on this topic...kinda lost a friend over it (he is an extremely experienced grower, and got bent when I did not follow his advice to kill everything and start over...duh I need to smoke not wait another 3-4 months!

Wow never had more than a little smear of pollen if I smear it between my thumb and forefinger.

As for the femmed seed: As I understand it basically yes. I do not know the method used to stress mary to hermie comercially. Using human genetics of male/female...a female pot plant is XX (male XY) stressing to hermie (XXX) esentially creates pollen that is X or XX. When combined with a female germ cell (X) you get either XX or XXX Breeders (the good ones) then somehow select for seeds that will not exhibit the hermie trait.

I have a couple of very nice fat seeds that I have collected They may be self pollinated or a cross. (if My RD crossed with my K-train and do not show the hermie trait...it could improve the poor trainwreck yield as my cut is trainwreck dom) For the sake of science... I will probably germinate and force flower after taking a cutting...just in case!

I believe that the rare find of a seed in a nice bud is the result of self polination or accidental hermie of another garden mate. With as many people who grow bagseed...It (germing my hermie seeds) is no more dangerous, and maybe the trait is not dominant. If the gene (trait) is expressed like normal traits...it could be easily lost in the F1...if it is dominant....getting a non-hermie F1 generation (homozygous for XX) would be ~1 out of 16...essentially getting a blond haired blue eyed child from two parents with brown hair and eyes....

Did any of the male flowers open? 14 days and you might be ok.

IMO Nirvana seeds suck. I have run AK-48...looks nice...but a huge waste of space! WEAK!!!!!...and 48 days my ass!

edit: Was it male or a cross dresser? IF it was AK-48...I would shit-can the rest...they will likely hermie and be fine looking schwag
