Poll 18/6 or 24/0 (Not debate thread, just statistics of fellow members)

What do you prefer when it comes to lighting? 18/6 or 24/0? This is not a thread to debate, if you want to add something feel free to but I just want to see what everyones preferences is here when it comes done to the statistics? Do more RIU members prefer 24/0 or 18/6?

24/0 for indica dominant with the exception for blueberry. 18/6 for pure sativas. I read this in a book a while ago. Hopefully someone has more insight on this.

I have had great results using both, but recently I started using 12/1, and I think it is better than either 24/0 or 18/6.
You got 12 on-5.5-off-1 on-5.5 off and repeat, so far results have been great. Plus I am saving lots of money on electricity during veg.

I prefer 18/6.

IMO 24/0 once switched to 12/12 can cause extra stretch as the plants aren't used to a dark period.

Using 18/6 and the plants are used to a dark period so as long and day and night temps aren't swinging too badly stretch is limited.

18/6. I base this kind of stuff on whats natural. Lighting, defoliation, lol, etc.

I saw a side by side comparison of 18/6 24/0 and 20/4.

20/4 blew them away, followed by 18/6, 24/0 was the worst.

Ive already done plenty of research with arguments and facts on both sides and I tend to stick with 18/6 because of the dark period and resting period. There is a reason they were created that way and nature intended it so. Thanks so far for the input!

16+ i tend to run mine for 17 or 24 for veg
when i started 16/8 on was most common place
do not think i have ever run them 18/6

24 hr for propagation and start of veg then 18/6 for weeks 3,4 and 5. have found sativas to overly stretch if veggd only under 24hrs of light.

Tried 24/0 this grow and so far has been ok. May be stretching more than I am used to when I was 20/4. A very respected (by me) grower here suggested there may be probs later on..

I like 18-6. Currently vegging alongside an Auto @ 20-4, and will continue this until harvest of the Auto.

One way in which plants are categorized is by the way they gather and handle carbon dioxide. Cannabis is a C3 plant. It uses the CO2 it gathers during the light period, when it is photosynthesizing. Plants designated C4 also gather CO2 during the dark period for use during the light period. Many C3 plants, including cannabis, do not need a rest period. They continue to photosynthesize as long as they are receiving light.
The plant's photosynthetic rate determines its growth rate because the sugars are used by the plant to build tissue and for energy.Cannabis under continuous light will grow 33% faster than the same plants on an 18-6 light regime.

I always run 24/7 lights. I find plants grow much faster this way. Here's a test of 24/7 vs 18/6. Plants are purple kush around 6 weeks in veg. Plants can rest in flower.

I been giving 24/0 without any problems so far there was a bit of a stretch in the beginning but they look better now
