i've noticed you stretch yours on purpose..why? most care for compact grow and maximum yield hence LST.Well these really stretched up this week or so. They started even height with the two bloomers.

oh, my.
You have never even seen me angry.I think it is a bad idea for safety. If you lose air flow through that lamp then the heat shield will insulate the heat all internally and cause that bulb to blow quicker. In addition, it could start a fire again, if you lost air flow through the cool tube.
I am looking at this from a risk/reward standpoint. The heat that is created by that light will have to be dissapated somehow and a cover over the lamp is not going to automatically make some of it go away.
*waits for Doer to go apeshit*
Sshuylaar please be careful with your ballast and other electrical so close to water sources.
I am unaware that is a controllable factor. They stretch to bloom. Some more than others.i've noticed you stretch yours on purpose..why? most care for compact grow and maximum yield hence LST.
We are not worried about the shield, glass, enclosure or light bulb catching on fire. You never have seen me even angry.
Those are all good points.
But, the shield may be fire rated,
and losing air will lose the blub IAC
the purists will say "no" to the stretch..mainly because of management and popcorns at the bottom..they are vine-like and LST actually takes the plants chemical (forgot the name) that's responsible for main cola and disburses it to the other branches which in turn cause them to "turn into" main colas..therefore, you have multiple main colas off one plant..additionally, keeping them shorter and putting netting on keeps the fans below and allow more colas to form..popcorns to fatten as the plant really is growing sideways..although it doesn't look it..keeps the grow closer to a SOG which is desirable.I am unaware that is a controllable factor. They stretch to bloom. Some more than others.
