Unfortunatly i have no camera to take photos, so ill do my best to describe my problem. Iv been growin under t5 floros for about 2 or 3 weeks, prior to that it was under incandecant for quite a long while, about 1.5 to 2 months. So the inital growth was pretty slow , next week il be at 3 months grw and im just hittin about 11 inches tall MABY a foot. I just, as in yesterday, purchased a 400 watt hps, cause the floros were nice n all but i want to do this as professional as possible. My grow medium is roots organic soil, great stuff aparently that is amended with the likes of eworm casting, Bat guano, sea bird guano, humic acid, kelp meal, green sand ect ect ect. Store i bought it from said it was full of nutrients and that ferting wasnt nessacary for the first 3 weeks. Well i did not fert for like 1 to 2 weeks, im a little stuborn. I was fertin with a seaweed extract. Every thing was goin good, but it was goin ssslllooowww. So i invested in a nicer light set up, got a t5 floro set up, the type wit the 4 long floro bulbs. Then i got some power plant Grow plant food, 3-1-4 its a one part plant food, clerk at hydro shop said it had every thing i would need for my baby, unlike organics wich he said would need a catalyst like say liquid karma, to help break down and deliver the food to the plant. Well i fead my baby at a quarter strength for like a week n a half two weeks. Then i just recently, like last week started watering at full strength. Well my baby is not looking happy:-| There is brown and yellow spots on the leaf, the spots are near the main vain running through the leaf, not the edges. Though there is like one or two with spots near the edges. Also the over all color of the leaves are yellowing, and there is a bit or curling and small deformities. I dont have a ph meter as im low on cash, and opted for the nicr lighting, rather then spend all cash on random supplies, well not random, but not completely nesscary. Plz im new to this and dont want to see my rather expensive investment wither away b4 my eyes! I have no job and in college, and the bud circulating around my parts right now is trash compaired to wat im accustomed to. They r charging outrageous prices and i cant afford so iv opted to b dealr free! Help me reach my dream of never having to reach in my wallet if i want to smoke and giv me as much feed back as u can.

Well from the yellow/brown spots, I'd say you are over-fertilizing. I wouldn't use the fertilizer at full strength, change it back to 1/4 strength and see if the plant gets better after a few days. Then you can slowly increase the ferts, lets say from 1/4 to 1/2 strength after a week or 2. If the plant doesn't get better, leave another post with any new symptoms/problems.

sounds like over watering (curling of leaves) and nutes burn (color change/deformities). you said your plant is 11 inches tall but didn't say how many leaves it has. if it has very few (i dunno less than 20) your plant may be stretching. hard to tell w/o pics

Do u mean twenty leaves over all? I do think ur right abour the streching as it was under quite the weak lighting for quite a while, One 65 watt soft white incandecent. Would over ferting cause the leaf curl/deforms? Im pretty sure im not over watering, its in a 5 gal pot and i feed it about 14 ounces of water every other day.

nutrient burn for sure is at least one of your problems, actualy very common first time around. Same thing I did to my first sprouted seedling. They are especialy delicate the younger they are. If it turns all brown/yellow and is all crispy, throw it away and start again. I always think that under fert at veg is better than burning it to death.
Your investment is still your investment! Plants come and go, that ballast will remain, and help you grow over and over.
Try to be patient, overfeeding will not make them grow faster, it kills em.
Best of luck in your growing!:peace:

Good point, even if this one doesnt pull through iv got every thing i need to start again, and then some. Its just no one wants to see some thing they have watched and cared for for the past three months do bad and die off. I also have no more seeds, i did find two random ones laying around my room wen i got back from wintr break and i germd em and they sprouted! But i left em alone for a day and they dryed up faster then they came. It was dissapointing, but none the less i will survive. I want to mail order some seeds, but im to lazy to walk all the way over to the mail room, complete other side of campus! and its cold as a witches out side. I know from wat iv read in the fourms that nirvans seeds is probably a reliable choice, but does any one know any thing about hempdepot.ca? Iv been checkin it out and the selection seems AMAZING compaired to nirvanas comparatevily small catalog. Im going to try n borow a camera to post a pic of my plant and the problems im having, but so far from wat ppl r sayin its wat i suspected as well, over fert.

Might a small flushing be in order? It would be hard to fully flush my 5 gal pot seeing as how im in a dorm room and all. I can really take my baby across the hall to the bathroom and run it under the sink. Nor could i take my galon jug and fill it 15 times. Suggestions?

Any thing? Well no one replyd for like a bunch o hours, sooo i went ahead and saturated my soil too the point where there was a lot of water comming out of the bottom drain holes, cost me about 10 bucks for all the damn bottled watr, the tap water in my dorms is atrocous, its so harsh i dont even drink it its all cloudy and leaves a metalic taste and a dry feeling in ur mouth, so of course im not gonna feed it to my babby. Well its been like 6 hours since i performd this and im sorta worried cause i didnt fill the container with 5xs the amount just lke 2 xs, and im wondering if i didnt get out the excess fert build up and instead just over waterd. Im not 100% sure over fertin was the problem, but it probably is. But the very bottom leaves did not improve instead they have completely dried and are now pretty much dust wen u tuch em:( How does flushing not over water? I dont get it, i see how it could help get rid of nasty salts but wouldnt it be hell on the roots?Hope i didnt make a mistake, ill see wen i wake up tommorow.

Please listen to this, you've been told already, but apparently didn't get it.

You are overwatering. That means stop watering! A small plant in a 5 gallon pot doesn't need to be watered every other day. More like every other week!

You are overfeeding. That means stop feeding! With good soil, you should give them a little food every 3rd or 4th watering. For you, that would mean every 2 months!

Now you've flushed it, let it sit for 2 weeks. Only good light and fresh air.

And maybe you can eke out a C.

Yeah, I was referring to Warmboe, muu232, and le1337need's posts that said the same thing that I did. And then you fed them and flushed them, all of that was your idea. So I tried to get a little stern.

You're doing what most new growers do, overdoing everything. Now you've learned how to grow, you've still got to learn the hardest part -- the waiting. :blsmoke:
