i was feeding my sprouts nutes (20% strength) 4 days ago but for the last 2 days i been only feeding them water... the rest of my babies look good but this is some thing i never seen b4. i see purpleish or brown colour forming on the new leaves. i have 2 pics 1 is weird n the other is an example of what the rest looks like.. i have 19 total

oh yeah im using a flood n drain system with dutch master gold A-B and nutriplus nutes. temp in grow tent is 23C thats 71F i think and humidity is 60-70% ph is always 5.5-60

Well I wouldnt say 3-4 weeks but def not for the first 2 weeks but after that then you should start adding your 20% nute solution

Yeah, no nutrients until you see the 3rd set of real leaves in hydro. If you wait a month you'll have some starving ass plants.

I've never seen that crazy purple on the new leaves, but I'm sure it's related to the nutes.

How is your ebb & flow working? I see hydroton in the pictures with a grow sponge in the middle. Is that a waterfarm type of setup? How often are you flooding? How high (does it reach teh sponge?)

I would hand water those little sprouts with clean, ph adjusted water for the first week or so about once a day only. And of course make sure the lights are way up out of the way. I don't know what you are using for light, but remember seedlings are sensitive.

i made the set up my self with help from my shop guy. i think i got a 50gallon res with a 3x4 table and 2 350GPH pumps one for flooding the table and the other to circulate and pump air into the res. the shop guy said this will keep my res full of oxygen n the air will also help keep my water cool.

at 1st i was flood until the water touches the sponges but right now i'm watering by hand once a day with water(ph5.5-6.0).
i have 5 t5 lights the hang about 8inch above my tallest sprouts. do u think that is too close?

Nice setup.
How many can you start/grow right there?
i have 19 sprouts(white russian ak47) in hydro and 2 feminize lemon skunk in soil. i plan to make the highest yielders my mother plant. i can fit 40 on that table.

i bought the shelf from cosco and its working really well i can adjusted to fit 2 tables if i want. i will use the top shelf for my mothers but for now its used for storage.

Look at the bulbs and see if they say High Output or HO anywhere on them.

If so, 24" is more like it for seedlings. Check out my journal, made the same mistake.

i just checked it and its 54w HO...so 24 inch..thank you dude!
Yeah...I made the EXACT same mistake. They grow freakin AMAZING if you put it up at 24". I still have mine about 10" and they are fully in veg. They love these things, but no one ever seems to mention the height needed for seedlings!

laserbrn, dude, ur plants look so healthy i hope my babies will turn out like that. i didnt know that t5s are that strong and heat wasn't really an issue in my grow tent since i have a A/C on 24/7 but i did notice that the heat some times spiked to 28C (82F)on a hot day even though out side the tent is 22C(69F). well i'm gonna raised the t5's to about 20 some thing inch. i hope there aint gonna be any stretching

There won't be any stretching. I was AMAZED after a week they stayed down low and didn't stretch. When i talked to the hydro store guy he kinda chuckled and said "yeah, those lights are WAY strong for seedlings". They usually recomment the little two-bulb 2 footers for seedlings. I've got 6 bulb 4 footers. But now that I know that, I can't believe how awesome the plants are under this thing. They just flourished once I raised that thing up. I think one of them stretched a bit out of the whole bunch and I really think it's just a weak seed. The rest look perfect. Great spacing, great color, everything looks real nice.

I'm glad I was able to help someone with this same problem. I was frustrated for a couple of weeks trying to figure out what was wrong.

no wonder the 1s in soil didn't even move i have them like 3" from the lights and i thought it because i mess up on them earlier and their slowly recovering. i wish i had a time machine to jump to 2 day forward just to see how their doing
