I'm trying to figure out what is a ideal Ph level for the water i use in my soil grow. I useualy test the water alone, out of tap, it reads 7.4 to 7.8, i ph it down to 6.4 to 6.5 then add FF nutes, re-test it and shot for 6.0 to 6.2 is this right??? i keep hearing different things,,,6.5-6.7 6.0-6.4, what is the IDEAL Ph "after" nutes have been added to the water an ready to pour into soil. Thanks for all the help guys, and girls. I;m at Ph of 6.0- 6.2 after adding nutes, i'm 3 weeks into flowering, PS is there different levels for different stages of growth, this is another thig i keep getting different answers to. Please help!!

I was going to say 6.0-6.2 is a little low...but I wouldn't change a thing...your plant looks VERY healthy. Typically I had heard 6.5 - 7.0, but man, I wouldn't mess w/ your success... Is there anything I'm missing? plant looks perfect...why worry?

Marijuana has been grown in hydroponic solutions with a pH as low as 5, and as high as 7.5 and it will "survive". I've come to think though a range between 5.9 and 6.5 is ideal while a range of maybe 6.2-6.3 being MOST OPTIMUM. You also have to realize that your also testing the pH of the medium AS WELL AS what your putting into it, such as if your soil mix is a pH of 5 or 8 since it drifted off you need to adjust your watering pH accordingly until the drain off water is the pH you want. If your going hydro just make sure the pH is lower than 6.5 and higher than 5.9 (thats water going in AND the finished mix) with the low end of 6 in mind. bongsmilie This information is my experience, and findings as well as the great Ed Rosenthal, J.C. Stitch, and SeeMoreBuds.

As you said your shooting for 6-6.2 and this is a great pH for a hydro setup, but if anyone is using a older pH tester that just reads colors I would just shoot for a 6ish color looking more on the 5 side or dead 6 center coloring. It doesn't really matter what your pH is before or after nutes as long as the pH of the solution being poured is good and that the run off (soil) or mist/nft/dwc pH is right with the end result.

Also keep in mind that strains vary in their ideal pH a little bit so when your plants look like yours thats an ideal pH, and there is no difference on the "optimum/ideal" pH whether it is hydro or soil. its still going to be between 5.9 and 6.5 they just are able to accept differences... differently? lol.

for soil you want a ph of 7 and hydro 6 to 6.5 go look at the best grows on this site and see what there ph levels were!!!! i have done this for a long time these are the best numbers i have come across in my 18 years of growing!

lol so many options so many options!!!

people on here are saying hydro 6-6.5 but i'd never run my hydro that high personally. i've ran a whole run 5.5 and actually the last two lines i used House and Garden and Mother Plant for my moms both recommend 5.8. for soil i run low 6's i dont get to specific just above 6 and no more then 6.5. also DO NOT ph your water before you add nutes!!!! add nutes to desired ml/gal or ppm and then once they are well mixed wait about 10 minutes then check and adjust the ph as needed.
