Hello, all.
I've been growing hydro for two years now and never had a problem until I moved to 100% organic food. I have a slime growing on my roots, and leaves are loosing color, and it's killing my girls, they are 2 weeks into flowering about 1ft tall four different strains. I have changed the reservoir, added SM-90, used enzymes (when I wasn't using SM-90), and got temps under control (going into summer); and still my ladies are pissed at me, and wont change their attitude. Whats up, do you think the food has gone bad ( but in my other hydro units everybody is fine) Whats the deal, please help?

What.......... no else knows either?
There is a slime on the roots, i washed it off, on some of my ladies they look like they are being over/under watering. All emitters are working. I also cleaned the whole system of the slime as best as I could, I also got some 29% H2O2 and added some to the reservoir. Some of my plants are so under feed now that they are yellow all the way to the top, and have lost almost half their leaves, their at the point were I might have to cut them down because they are not going to make SHIT; so please can anybody help???

From the SM-90 literature: "[FONT=Tahoma, Verdana]NOTE: SM-90 will inhibit beneficial bacterial colonization."
I have never used organics in hydro because I was under the impression that it's a pain to do so and not worth it. As far as your plants not being fed; iirc beneficial bacteria are what facilitate the breakdown and transport to the plant of organic ferts to something that the plant can readily use. If the SM-90 did take care of the slime/rot then you probably would have to go with a chem fert as there wouldnt be any beneficial bacteria in there. Like I said, idk shit about organics in hydro but I am familiar with supplementing them in colonized soil mixes. Hope it helps

Thanks, I actually just did that before I got online, I went back to aqua flacks with h202 and sm90; I think this should work, I normally use botanicare but if temps get past 75-80 in the res everything goes to hell in a hand basket.

Your using organic nutes and things that destroy bacteria (sm-90, h202). Organic nutes cannot be eaten by your girls without bacteria, but this also invites bacteria you don't want. Organic hydro is very challenging IMO and requires everything being just right. Stick with synthetics in hydro...if ur gung ho about organic go soil.

Botanicare is the best food I have ever come across ( In a side to side to side challenge against aqua flakes and envy, botanicare had bigger buds and more resin and a higher yield then the other lines; also I had the same genetics in my hydro units all under 600w hps), I don't like dirt because I always end up over feed are salt lock out happens. Idk maybe what i should do is check temp and when they get hot, change to synthetics with bacteria destroying additives for a week are two then when they start growing again go back to botanicare; this is only happening to two outa four of my units so I think it will be ok to continue to use organics. I think the benefits I have gotten from botanicare out weigh the con's. Two months ago something similar happened, I change the res to synthetics and sm90; and everything was ok.

My exhaust fan for the whole room got unplugged and the widow unit could not keep 5*600w of light cool, and the res and room hit 90 degrees F, I should have changed it then but was drunk on ever-clear and didn't realize I accidentally unplugged the exhaust.

Yea, rez temps are even more crucial with organic nutrients bc you are using no sterilizers, your counting on temp to slow bacterial growth.

I ended up flushing four times with diluted H2O2, then ran just H2O, then added aqua shield to my food. Been four days, after two I saw root growth again, but it's all new roots the old roots are still slimy.

Aqua Shield is well worth the money, if I had used that instead of SM-90 I wouldn't had any problems. Also I went and talk to a few other gardeners in my area, You can add a small amount of H202 to organics you have to wait two hours for some reason it didn't make since, also SM-90 is an organic extract so it's also ok to use with organics. In the end I lost 20 ladies and one unit and slowed down 30 in the other, the good news is the root rot has stoped and growth has started again. After everything I found two products that would have prevented this whole ordeal, my favorit for cost is Aqua Shield, the other is Roots which cost 127.00 for 500ml at the store I go to.

One other thing to consider - you don't have light penetration to your roots do you? I had this same issue before I abandoned my 4" tube aero for a better design. I suspect that light penetration, among other things, caused my issue.
