I agree not enough water can cause time release nutes to only break down in the area that had water, it is best to water the whole pot
That would depend on the pH of the run off water coming out of the bottom of the pot, most modern companies use a lime of some type in the soil to help keep pH were the plants like it for longer time do to time release mixture bases in the soil. So I have been told by a few of them here locally at least.
