Please help with what lights to use?

Hey guys,
Ok I have 6 cfl's 26watts 5700k hanging verticle over 10, 1 week old seedlings. The space right now is approx. 2 1/2 feet wide, 2 feet tall, almost two feet square. But when the seedlings get to be roughly 3 weeks old I'm going to make the enclosure three feet deep, 3 feet wide, and 4 feet high. What lights would you recommened that I use? M H, or HPS? What wattage? And this will probally be for 3 or four plants. Thanks for the help.

If this is going to be your veg and flower room all in one than you should go with HPS for sure. They make bulbs, like hortilux eye, that have some added blue that help reduce stretching and are better to veg under than a cheap HPS bulb. They are kinda pricy but worth it if you go start to finish in one area. Most digi ballasts can switch between MH/HPS so you could run both bulbs with one ballast and change out for flower.
But if you plan to have 2 different room for flower and veg than you would start with the MH and move them under the HPS when its time to bud'em.
Depending on how tall you plan to grow you could do 400 watt if only running one chamber. If you do a seperate veg area than you could get away with a 250 or possibly less till their ready for flower.
You could even veg under those flors and move to HPS for flower

Thanks for the info. But I should of mentioned that I wanted to do this the cheapest way possible. So would a 150HPS light be good with some 62watt. Cfl's? And where can I get a ballast and those computer fans for cheap? Does anyone gave an idea where I can look to buy online, or an everyday store?ie-(wal-mart)

Haven't found any cheap duct fans that work well yet... but I use a $15 box fan from Walmart with a small desk fan I had extra

dont go lower than 250w if you get an HPS for that amount of plants. 150 is more more a single plant scrog.

You will need a bigger area for a hps and 10 plants unless you plan on doing a Scrog and putting them into flower pretty early. Also, you will need really good ventilation. With that said, a 400watt or 600 watt is need for that many plants to be effective

I would do the 400w if you can control the heat. Adding the cfl's to a lower watt HPS is a waste of time and effort. You will get better results with the 400 everytime and can control heat better as its only coming from one source above the plants. The cfl's would have to be spaced all around the sides of the plants and even tho they dont feel that hot they are still each putting off heat and adding to the overall grow room temp.
Just make sure your wall reflect as much light back to the plants as possilbe regardless of your lighting setup.

Thanks for all the info guys. Ok after reading your thoughts and comments about my plants/space, what would be better Hps or Mh?wouldn't I need both to have a successful grow? If I could choose one bulb and ballast which one for now to get me by until funds get better? I noticed that Menards have HPS and MH are they any good for growin or are they junk? Sorry for all they questions, but I want my baby's to continue to keep growin. :)
