Ive been a reader/ searcher for years, this might be my first post. Im a med patient also. long story short i have moved, and wife kicked me and my grow to the garage. I live in northern U.S. and summer temps get mid to upper 80's with very high humidity. i am ordering the dr 150 grow tent tom for the garage with a 1000w hps, with a 8" coolable hood. the garage gets very hot and humid and i will have to run an a/c but don't wanna spend alot, whats my best a/c option. can i use a window a/c? and have the hot air exhaust into the closed garage? or do i need a portable ac? thanks for any help, i really need it.

this is the exact situation im in right now..dont put a window ac unit in there blowing in2 ur garage..ur exhaust will passivly bring that hot ass air right back in2 the tent. cool tube and tent ..great idea..only 1 1000watter 8 in cool tube..perf..okay 8'' can fan for exhaust..str8 up in2 attic. then 2 keep temps in check buy a 10,000btu portable a/c at homedepot..online..lowes..anywhere..it will have a 4 in exhaust u need to tie in2 ur other exhaust or out a window..and will serve as a dehumidifier..u can dump an outlet right on ur slab for the a/c out of ur tent...wholla this venture wont be hard bro with 1 light 1 tent..if u need some more help holler..but like i said im runnin 2k selfmade tent..(studs..poly..sheetrock..and window a/c and it fucking cooks my Grage bro..dont do it..unless u can exhaust it...

I would get a humidity and temp controller, portable ac and also get a squirell cage blower that way any time the humidty gets high the blower exhausts it and if temps get to hot the ac will come on...that 1000 watt is gonna get pretty hot in that tent so i would also get a inline fan to air cool the light...im not sayin thats accurate info but thats prob what i would do. iknoe you dont want to spend alot but that 1000 watt plus hot heat requires some serious cooling tools

only problem i dont have a window in the garge to vent anything out. i can have the garage open alot of the time but thats it. so what kind of a/c unit you suggest?? i really dont wanna spend more than 150.00 on it. i was thinking getting a used one of craigs list maybe.

well not to serious...just what u listed ..2 fans..some ducting ..ur portable a.c in place..and the cooltube..shouldnt be no crazy electrical renovations or nothing unless you step up 2 mulitple lamps..Yeah get like 2 or even 3 different kinds of temp / rh readouts and keep them all over the tent..1 at canopy hieght, anther at top of room..1 at base..get a feel for ur new environment ur creating once u get ur light in.

also there is no vent in the attic to vent out any hot air. since the tent is only about 5x5 i dont wanna have the port a/c inside the tent, i will have to many gf in the tent. would the port a/c be able to be outside of the tent and run an inline fan and tube into the tent?
Thanks for all the help, you guys are awsome

Run your lights at night,if it's mid 80's for highs your lows at night must be kinda cool,so use that cool outside air and vent your hood with it,and you can use that cool air to cool down your tent also with another air input from the outside. Our low temps at night are in the 80's over here.

id like to say u could take care of 1 lamp w/out a/c but if u cant committ to hacking an intake whole somewhere..or if the garage has a side door replacing it for 1 with a window..so u can pull fresh air thro ur cooltube..but if u wanna run w/ the least work for now..you could cool it w/ a small portable..probably wouldnt take up much room in the tent..they have there own thermostats and settings..there costly like 300 and up..worth it tho. wutcha mean u dont have an attic above ur garage..and rafters..roof vents anything to tie in2? dryer vent tee? U did say u can crack ur garage..c i grow in a grage..but maybe ur settings different..i couldnt expose my lil op ..but i crack my garage just a bit to draw cold air in the mornings and evenings in..but that 1000watter does heat up..

great idea about doing it at night. so i will get a port a/c set it outside of the tent, and run an inline fan and tube into the tent to cool. i will have the hood vent the hot bulb heat out of the tent, and set up a y tube and connect the hot air with the hot a/c exhaust and run it up to the attic, even though there is no vent for escape.
Now should i still run an exhaust at the top of the tent to remove any hot air at the cealing???

Don't be afraid to make a little hole and hook up an adapter to exhaust your hot air in the attic. This is how i got mine hooked up.

i might just have to make an escape for the hot air. so should i run an exhaust at the top of the tent as well???

does it matter if the port a/c is in the tent, or is outside fine? im just concerned about space in the tent. the best idea would prolly be to have the a/c inside the tent and exhaust the hot air out, then set up a y connector to the exhaust from the roof and set up a carbon filter and blow the clean filtered air out the garage. does this sound good???
