Ok..So i have done tons of reaserch, have plenty of guides and books. But I am having trouble putting my finger on the exact problem so I am hoping for some personal experince and advice.

I have a WHITE WIDOW 3 1/2 weeks from germination. Setup underneath a 300 watt cfl . Temp is 77-80 degrees with 40%-42% hummidity. I am using a 5 gallon bubbler bucket with r/o drinking water. I use PH test strips to check Ph But it only goes to 6.0(yellow) so im hoping that means im ok, but in reality i cant tell if it is any lower then 6.0. I added a few extra drop of PH DOWN hoping for a 5.8 ph(scratch head) I am using Aqua Flakes A & B along with Fox farm Grow BiG I added nutes lask week 5.5ml of both A & b AND 3 TPS of grow big. And now i have brown spots that look like bute burn . or lack of certain chemicals. I cant put my finger on it so im hoping some one else can help me out..

My setup....

yah looks like exterior damage. 5.8 is sort of acidic unless ur seed is feminized, I read more acid = more males.

I would say get a electronic PH tester. 5.8 isnt bad for DWC or hydro in general but you cant be sure what yours is at. The extra drops may be making it too low. If thats the case your plants arent taking in enough nutes. I believe brown spots are a PH issue or calcium def. Could be wrong though get a second opinoin.. And it does look like its being eaten. But honestly I cant say for sure cause Ive never had a problem like that. By the way do you know what your PPM's at?

It's your PH and a little bit of nute burn. If you want to grow in Hydro you really need to get proper testing equipment.

You have a little bit of leaf twist, signs of nute burn and brown spots. Multiple symptoms like that usually points to PH.

You need to get a PH tester and a PPM meter. You can't really get through this without them. Not going to happen from start to finish without some proper tools. Maybe if you had years of experience and a very good system in place, but getting a system started and for your first time, get the tools or by some soil (even then the tools make it easier).

I actually just invested in a ppm meter and a ph meter on the way from ebay!! =) so until then what steps should i take to prevent any further damage? Im almost 90% sure nothing is eating them, the leaves actually grew deformed from what i believe was improper water and ph.. the new leaves seem to be growing fine. Unless it being eaten by something i can not see beacuse i have very few pests around my area and my closet grow is far from any outside interaction. SO if this is what i belive nute burn? or calcium deff? what steps should i take to correct this problem befor she dies......=(

If they grew like that then yep for sure I would think PH. Id use those strips you got and get the PH to 6.0. Thats an acceptable PH to live with a couplke days to you get the new PH tester

thats not nute burn...you've got bugs... and I'd say a slight bit of ph problems...also whats your ppm then you could eliminate your possibilites of nute burn

349ppm is this bad?
I have 2 fans set up, one at the top of the grow room pushing the air around and one outside the grow room bringing fresh air in.

Could be alittle high for your plants they look kinda small. Also check the PPM of you tap water(or whatever water your using for you res changes). The cure all seems to be flush your system with ph'd water. With what you currently have going you could have a nute lock up which is salt build up creating def. or a nute burn, or just that you PH is so off that your plant cant take up what it needs. Flushing the sytem with PH'd water should clear any of those three problems.

actually i think i have found the source of the problem. From doing some research it looks more like calcium defficency i went ahead and added some fox farm grow big for hydro which has 2.0% calcium bring my ppm up to 850 ill watch her over night , then give her a good flush and refill the reservior with new nutes..thanks for the advice.

I started with 10 White Widow feminized seeds, out of the 10, I ended up with 3 healthy girls.
Not an easy plant to grow, but worth the heartache...

I am a little confused i have seen some post talking about ppm being too high and too low..but my fox farm nutrient scedule says at week 3 i should have 1120 ppm??? can anyone explain this to me? i dont think my plants are suffering from nute burn only because from looking at other picture of nute burn it seems to start on the outter edges of the leaves. Which i have no signs of burn on the outter leaves jsut what looks like burn spots or deterating color.
and im 95% nothing is eating the plants , i literally whatch them grow deformed which seems to be another symptom of calcium deff.??
