PLEASE HELP!!various problems germinating seeds - pics of setup

hi everyone!

so this is my second grow after the first being a successfull one.. my current setup is a homebox xs with a carbon filter extractor (160m3/h), a 250W HPS light with a 27W igual to 100W CFL plus an inline fan and another fan for air movement

i tried germinating 4 ice nirvana seeds, 2jock horror auto seeds also from nirvana and im now germinating 2 dinafem WW autoflower.. i tried soaking them in paper towels, jiffy pellets, rockwool cubes and nature style(just putting them in the soil)....

until now, MOST OF THEM HAVE DIED AFTER BREAKING THE SURFACE!!!!

i dont know wtf im doing wrong, some seeds broke their surface still in their seed shells that i had to remove with a pair of tweezers others didnt came out at all while one stretched a little fell over and died and 1 ice is still fighting but i think its stunned because in the last 2, 3 days it hasnt grown an inch...


PLEASE HELP ME! i have been like this for the past 15 days


the temps are around 28, 33Celcius and the humidity around 30, 40% and i have been watering them once or twice a day when i see the soil has been dry for a while..

bring your temps down. 28-33c(82-91f) is pretty warm and dont over water. put a humidome of some sort on them.

You don't need any light to start up seeds. Room temp works just fine. If the shells are getting stuck on the leafs, preventing the planting from 'opening' up, simply take a small piece of a wet paper towel and lay it on there for a few minutes and it will slide off without damaging the youngster.

so flares i allready tried to bring them down but the only way they went down is when i but my lights far away from my plants which isn't good also.. i allready have my 3 fans blowing at max. speed.. i had the humidome until i read that for seedlings it wasn't necessary.. but i put it back on but my ice baby but it doesn't seem to be very good there is just too much contradicting info!!!!

punk i know, i just put them under my lights when the first leaves sprout but they keep dying anyway.... thanks for the advice on the stuck shell next time i will do that!

First thing is bro u don't need ur hps on for seedling growth, second you need to make sure the static electricity in the air is not high it tends to make the seedlings stretch, also u need your cfl about 1 1/2 inch from the seedlings most important thing DON'T TOUCH THEM or mess around with them bcz I found the slightest jiggle while there thiss fragile can cause them to fall over, the reason they stretch up is bcz thhere stretching for more intence light also use plastic drink cups from the dollar store there like 1 dollar for 10 there perfect depth for starting seeds fill the cup with ( promix soild mix with 30% perlite and 10 % vermiculite to soften up the medium for easy germination PM me if u need any more info

OK first off stop with the paper towel shit. And don't soak them in water glasses. Going into dirt? Seed directly into the peat plug. Hydro? Seed straight into rockwool. He's too new to discuss other options so we move on. Put them in a heated seedling tray with dome. In 2 to 3 days - VUNDERBAR. Seedlings.

i agree hotrodharley, on my first grow i just planted the seed directly and i had 100% germ.. now i dont know whats wrong because my seeds are dying in different ways, i simply dont understand because i'm doing exactly the same as in my first grow... my last ice just died a few minutes ago(the one in the pic) and i'm now waiting for my 2 ww auto from dinafem which i started to germ about 48h ago... they are in a humidity dome in a dark place at room temp just going to wait for something to happen

Nobody suggested germinating the seeds with a paper towel. You saw the phrase "paper towel" and jumped the gun.

planting your germed seeds with tweezers or by finger? and germing in paper towel is fine.

tweezers but i only germ 2 using the paper towel the others i planted them directly in their soil or in jiffys but they all ended up dead... i cant understand why! i dont believe i underwatered because i gave them a little every day as the soil dried out

why would you need a humidome with seedlings?

Is it possible you're over watering your plants? You said you're watering everyday?

After I germed. my seeds I just poured 1 3/4 cup water into the 12 jiffy pellets, let them swell and planted my seedlings. It's been almost a week and I only just watered the 12 again today with 1 cup distilled ph tested water.

The only one that didn't germinate I planted anyway, but it hasn't shown any signs of life, nor do I expect it to at this point.

Just my thoughts.

I was refering to the ones I got in soil I forgot to mention that before and I watered them as the soil felt dry.. I had 1 or 2 in jiffys which I didnt water as much (maybe 48h with a sprinkling bottle) but they also died.. now my 2 ww auto sprouted i only got my cfl turned on for now but in a couple of days i will turn on my hps (not sure when but maybe when the first set of leaves appear?)

This post is bullshit. I've used the paper towel method for years, with no problems. It's just like anything else, there is a right and wrong way to do everything.
