Please help! They used to be perfect. Nitrogen/Mg deficiency week 3 of flower - FloraNova Series

Ok, the two pics are under normal light so you can see the yellowing correctly. This is about 1.5 days after they were given a small dose of FloraNova Grow with the normal General Hydroponics feeding schedule. The grow has more nitrogen in it, but you aren't supposed to use it in flower.

Anyway, I have a yellowing problem and don't know what to do. It's day 18 and I have all Flora Nova Nutes with Calmg and Silica and super thrive available that I can use.

The next water they are due for a fresh water water, which is every other time because it takes 3-4 days per water, so a fresh water is called for every other time. Should I give them a dose of FloraNova Grow? If so, how much? I'm seeing this yellowing get worse and I feel like I gotta do something, but I want to make sure nothing gets screwed up!

If you can help this situation, please reply! These girls need your help!

Bump… By the way my PH for pouring is about 6.5 last time and the runoff came out to PH 5.8, so I don't think it's the PH… Also 1000 PPM was poured last time (GH recommends 800 PPM tops) but I increased it by 200 PPM by adding FloraNova Grow because of the increased nitrogen..

I'm thinking they may need a full does of grow… Does that make sense for week 3 of flower? I'm a little scared about giving them grow notes because I'm new to this… Any input helps a ton! Thanks!

D. Diesel and OG Kush… They are hybrids.

Also, I was recommended to foliar spray it with epson salt (For Mg) and ammonia for nitrogen… Anyone agree? I also have Floralious plus… There are directions on it for foliar and it has nitrogen, but no Mg… It is at day 19 of flower and I haven't done any foliars since I saw buds, but there is some nitrogen in it. Here is FloraNova's Feeding Schedule: http://generalhydroponics.com/site/gh/docs/feeding_sched/GH-FloraNova-DTW-Charts.pdf

Here are the ingredients for Floralious Plus Foliar Spray:

Total Nitrogen (N).......................................2% 2% Water Soluble Nitrogen

Available Phosphate (P2O5)......................0.8% Soluble Potash (K2O)..............................0.02%

Plus

Derived from:

Vegetable Protein Hydrolysate, Potassium Sulphate.

ALSO CONTAINS NON-PLANT FOOD INGREDIENTS:

Super Concentrated Enhancer

2% humic acids derived from micronized leonardite.

20% Sea Kelp derived from Ascophyllum nodosum.

Here is the ingredients for Flora Nova Grow (This could increase nitrogen if I do a plant feed with it.:

Total Nitrogen (N)....................................7.0% 0.9% Ammoniacal Nitrogen
6.1% Nitrate Nitrogen

Available Phosphate (P2O5).....................4.0% Soluble Potash (K2O)..............................10.0% Calcium (Ca).............................................4.0% Magnesium (Mg)......................................1.5%

1.5% Water Soluble Magnesium (Mg)Sulfur (S)..................................................2.0%

2.0% Combined Sulfur (S)Boron (B)................................................0.01% Chlorine (Cl)...........................................0.01% Cobalt (Co)...........................................0.002% Copper (Cu)............................................0.01%

0.01% Chelated Copper (Cu)Iron (Fe)....................................................0.1%

0.1% Chelated Iron (Fe)Manganese (Mn)....................................0.03%

0.03% Chelated Manganese (Mn)Molybdenum (Mo)...............................0.003% Zinc (Zn)..................................................0.02%

0.02% Chelated Zinc (Zn)

What kind of strain u doing?

first of all you don't mention the most important thing of all, what you are growing it in. Second, you don't use floranova grow at this stage, you use floranova bloom. Yellowing doesn't neccessarily mean nitrogen. I use floranova grow and bloom and switch to bloom about 1 week into flower when they start craving phosphorus and Potassium. Use bloom and a little bit of cal/mag from this point on.

Thanks… So you think it's a CalMg deficiency from the looks of it? Oh yea, they are in HP Promix… A peat moss medium.

I have been following the feeding schedule exactly, except the small dose of grow I gave them because of the nitrogen… Maybe a dose of CalMagic and super thrive in the next water and nothing else, since they are due for fresh water.

I don't understand, what else are you feeding it besides the small amount of grow? I'm thinking phosphorus at this time, purple stems( could be genetic). Nitrogen defs usually start at the bottom with severe yellowing. You do need SOME nitrogen in flower but not a whole lot. So grow isn't your problem. Whatever it is it's not too bad at this point so don't go overboard with any nutes.

Are you using RO water? If so you most likely need that calmag.
No, it's tap water with about 200-300 PPM. I've heard that before Mr. John, but is it both Calcium and Mg. in the city tap water, or just Calcium?

What do you think about a dose of CaliMagic in the next watering?

Often you can look up your local municipal water quality reports which should give you PPM averages of everything that's in the water, including calcium and magnesium.

Ace hit it, you should. Be able to get a report. I imagine mag is in your water supply also. That is pretty hard water you have there. My tap water is 50 but I Still RO filter it. I could have gone the cheap way and just chlorine filter it but I want total control over my water. It's been a few days since your original post, how are the ladies doing.

Sorry not sure about the calmag dose. I would try RO/filtered water from the grocery store your next feed day. It should be under ten ppm or so. This way you have a clean slate to work from

Then use the calmag per instructions. PH is easy also as you are not fighting the buffering dissolved solids fpund in tap water. I find when I need to adjust PH a little goes a long way.

Thanks… They look a little bit greener, but not a ton… I think they need a good CaliMagic dose. I think I'm going to try it in the next water since i don't want to not give them notes next time because they definitely look like they need it… I've been averaging a feed every other water… This next time, instead of putting just water, i'm going to at least do CaliMagic… From those pictures, would you add anything else besides a good/heavy dose of CaliMagic? I'm debating on whether to add anything else.

Wow, 50 PPM is really low… I tried Googleing the water report and couldn't find anything.. I'm going to have to dig for that a little.

Thanks a ton!

I found a water quality report from a few years ago, and it doesn't list anything about Cal or Mg :/.…..

I think that promix is usually way low on ph so you could be locking out a few different nutes based on that...Also, spider mites or soil gnats/bugs will make plants yellow quicker than they should

Interesting… Had gnats around a little, but put some gnat mix on the top and haven't seen them since… I think spider mites is unlikely… never had them… Is there a good way to look for them.

I don't think it's the PH, because I did a really slow feeding last time over the course of about 2 hours… Basically poured 1/2 gallon, wait 40 mins, pour another and then on the 3rd pour the runoff came and it was tested at 5.8 PH… The poured water was 6.6

I might not be too off then in terms off bugs...spider mites make these speckled little dots on the leaves and the underneath part will have little almost microscopic dots moving around..They can and will make leaves yellow...I still think 5.8 is low but I am in fox farm soil...Also, peat moss holds water ALOT more so be cautious about overwatering.

I looked at the leaves pretty closely and couldn't see anything unusual… As far as overwatering… They are root bound in 7 gallon pots… so they have been taking about 1.7 gallons total I would say each water… Does that sound about right? They run just a little at that amount.

During certain points of flowering they like more or less water...For the most part cannabis doesn't like its "feet wet" meaning roots can dry out a little..

Ok, so instead of the straight fresh water that they were due for, they got a 1/2 dose of all the FloraNova notes, plus a full dose of Calimagic… It's been 2 days since their watering, and they seem to be taking a turn for the better.

They are under orange lights in the pics, so the color is off, but I believe I am seeing the green spread through the leaves from the bottom centers all the way through the tips. Is this what I'm seeing here? I'm kind of new to this, so wanted to check to make sure my assumption is correct…

They all seem happy, just some have yellow leaves that are hopefully getting greener :) on to week 4 of flower now… Day 22
