Ok so my first attempt at growing was bad. i bought Spot-grow lights and germinated the seeds correct, then planted them and they grew.
the only problem was i didnt have a clue what i was doing. no timer. light schedule was all screwy.
On the other hand i grew these 2 plants up to like 3 feet tall and never budded. i realize i was just stupid with the hole thing and the lights wont flower even if i was super good.
recently i have been learning up on this hole thing and im starting over.
I have a 200 watt HPS and everything, really good seeds and a perfict grow closet.
This guy told me that the hps wont be good to first start growing with and i needed to buy a hole new florescent setup to start the plants until they got 8 inches tall then switch to HPS.
i was hoping to save the money and just start out on the HPS i just dont want to ruin the new seeds i just purchased
any suggestions?

one more question how many plants can i grow under a 200 watt HPS and will this light work for flowering??

well first of all, you can use the HPS all the way through for growing. second of all, how big is your grow room? this is going to determine more than anything how many plants you can fit under that 200 watt lamp. how man lumens does this light put out? you need a minimum of 2000-2500 lumens per square foot to grow bud, 5-7000 would be damned good, and anything above that will give you excellent yield.

Well my grow closet is 4ft wide 12 feet deep and a ceiling of 10 ft.
The thing is that i dont want to many plants for my own good.
i was hoping for around 4 person plants?????
Do the lights stay on 24 hours when first planted, then switrch to the 12/12 well they are ready to flower??

hps is great for flowering. if you want you can use the hps from start to finish. if you can aford it a flro would work great for new seedlings or clones. you don't want to heat stress new plants
just get some cfl bulbs that you would put in your lamps i had 3 plants growing under 3 cfl bulbs after my150w cfl died they didn't grow real fast but they did grow. gl on your grow may you have all females:mrgreen:

i am going to be using clones for sure
I was also told if i use a "pro Pure Blend grow" 3-1.5-4
from the start it will blance the ph in the soil and i wouldnt have to worry about it???? or is there any better sugestions for an added nutrient???
Oh yeah one last question, how close can i get the HPS without harming the poor plant. i know that the Spot-grow had to be a Foot away or it would cook the plant. but that was a shitty light to begin with.
sorry for all the little questions, i just a looking to produce the best nugz i can

Keep the HPS a good distance away from the new sprouts. Once you get a few weeks in you can gradually lower the light to within 5 inches from the plant without burning. It's a gradual move. I think you should start with 18"
