72283_130355077020354_100001375878936_150518_6862979_n.jpgALL i have is a 250 watt metal halide and 100 wats of floros and these autoflower seeds just came in today and im trying to figure out if it would be worth it to buy a hps or how will it affect my yield if i dont..... I spent ALOT of money on the seeds and im trying to do this right!!!!

The closet is only 4 1/2ft long 2 1/2 ft wide and 8 ft up.....
so im kinda limited on the size of the pots i cant use considering i got a hydroponic system in the middle......
what size pots will be big enough for them to grow big enough to get atleast a zone off of every plant....

and what way would work best to get atleast a 95% germination rate?????
because the autos arent cheap!!!!!!

o and whats the thc count on the lowryders????:blsmoke:

Thanks....

I'd go with 1.5 gallon (8" diameter) pots. You should be able to get three rows that way.

To germinate I take two paper towels, fold them into a 4x4" square, wet them thoroughly and squeeze the excess water out. Put your seeds in between the paper towels and then put the whole thing in a ziploc bag. Lay the bag flat but leave it open and keep in a dark, slightly warm place (the top of your fridge works nicely). Check daily to make sure it's moist but not soaking wet. The seeds will germinate anywhere from 1-12 days.

Oh yeah, you should use water thats been sitting out a day or two to let the chlorine gas off.

I like to soak my beans in a shot glass till they drop to the bottom (good indication they're good)....then use the paper towel method stated above. I've grown autos for several seasons....and use 4 or 6 inch pots with Humboldt soil....water only till 3-4 weeks old...then begin nutes 1/4 strength gradually increasing.....Larger pots will help your yeild.....I'm using t5 24/0 for 3-4 weeks, then move to 400w hps.....
I'm a lowryder 2 fan, having grown those girls several times...just know its a good smoke...but don't know the thc or cbn count. I like to cure mine at least a month with improves all facets of the herb and refines the taste. Good luck.

HPS is the best light for flowering but not necessary. MH will do a nice job too because it's delivering so much more light than fluoros or CFLs. The spectrum is just more in the blue (think spring) range than red (think fall & harvest) that plants will naturally get when they mature.

Check your hydro store for a cross-over bulb like the Agrosun Gold that has more red spectrum than a straight MH bulb.

I would highly recomend an HPS or atleast a larger MH. your dealing with some pretty small lights... I personaly use a 600 Watt HPS from above and 250 HPS from below.

Will i be able to produce a decent yield with the halide and floros just until i can get my money up to buy hps ? what is the cheapest hps and ballast to buy or will the cross over bulb work just as fine?

How much yield am i looking at from 12 feminized lowryders under the halide and floros?

howmuch is the cross over bulb? what best nutes im kinda on a low budget ??

do i really need bigger lights my closet is superrrrr smallll 4 wide 2 long?

I would say definately invest in bigger lights if you can, but that will force u to invest in some ventilation too. Your grow will be just fine without the extra bulbs, but i would say with how low your light is now... you could probably get a 25% better yeild with some better bulbs, but your plants will grow and do just fine with what you have now... As for yeild, i have no clue about your strain, but your yield will NOT be very large with that small amount of light. I would guess anywhere from 4-8 ounces? also depends on if you are going to LST it or crop it? how tall are you going to grow it?

Also, I perosnaly just buy the bulb and a ballast kit from any electrical store. The ballast kits cost me about 70 bucks, and the bulbs about 20-30, then i just make my own ballast, If you have a well set up room with all reflective surfaces, Ive always thought expensive ballasts where a little over rated and can run you up in to the 200-300 dollar range!

as for nutes, I just use nutes from home depot with decent NPKs, I know some people get really technical with it but... idk, probably best for someone else to awnser that question.

I'd stay with the 250w light for your first harvest. It will give you a chance to see how it impacts your temps both in the closet and at the tops of your plants as they grow. If the temps are low enough then maybe you can get away with a bigger light, but probably not without a ventilation upgrade. Your closet is small so your current light supplemented with some floros should be fine for a first grow. Personally, there's nothing like starting small and then adding bells & whistles as you go. It's a great way to learn.

One thing you can do is get some white plastic for your walls, or even easier just paint your closet with flat white (not gloss) paint. It's super reflective. Mylar looks cool but doesn't perform as well and can lead to hot spots.

A good nutrient is Jack's Classic (all purpose for veg, bloom booster for bloom). You can order it online.

the website says theyll only get 17 to 19 inches but it says the will produce 28 to 42 grams
But will i not even get that because of the light situation and i got mylar on the walls now?
i just hope i get a DECENT yield because the last one was SHIT i had to throw out 6 females but they were just bag seeds i dont no if it was too hot for them to flower or if they were getting over water.......like you can see those little things coming out so you no its a female but they never did anything else they were on 12/12 timer

Hey Oldreefer I have some lights from htg on the way 400 watt hps and a pl-55 light supposedly 10k lumens ehhh people use them they work. Anyways I am about to start my first grow I started a thread so some experienced growers can help me along the way. So you say the first couple weeks fluros will be ok? So I should wait about the first month before throwing on the 400?

I would definitely buy an hps for flowering. I would get a 400w hps for 12 plants. 250w hps lights aren't very intense and if your growing plants more than 3ft tall you aren't going to see any buds forming on the lower branches especially with 12 plants in that tight space.

Humboldt is good cheap nutrients. you can get away with using just the grow, bloom, and micro and they are about $10 a quart.

adding co2 to the grow room is also a great way to increase the yield as well. just get a gallon jug of water, fill it with sugar and yeast and its will create co2. they also have these "exhale co2 cultivator" bags that work great.

also get some type of ventilation to bring the humidity and temp down. humidity should be between 40-60% and temp should be 70-85 degrees F. If possible trying to install the ballast outside the grow room since it generates some heat.

The mylar works great but watch out for hot spots.

I would also consider getting a t5 fixture or several 6500k cfls for vegging so that the node spacing is really small and you do not have to spend as much on electricity. you can get a 6 light bathroom fixture and 6 150w equivalent 6500k cfl bulbs for about $30 at homedepot.

Also look up on stress training plants like LST, cropping, topping, etc. For indoor growing your better off growing the plants out than up.

The upfront costs are expensive but buying the right tools the first time will end up being worth it and cheaper overall. I started with the cheap stuff, but ended up buying the expensive stuff anyway
