No doubt , nutrient burn. Mine went through the same thing because of hot soil (too much composted horse manure) and after giving absolutely zero nutes, mine recovered after TD Cindy dropped 5" of rain on them. Thank goodness that it was slow, steady rain over 2 days.
I can't add anything to what everyone else is saying, except that they can recover. Water and air is all your roots need for a while.
