Please help my poor plants

HI,

Needing a little bit of help here.

I just started my first grow. To start my little seedlings off they were germed in water for 24 hours then planted. I done 2 ahead of the others to make sure everything was ok.

They are in my attic with a fluorescent light (2x18 watt tubes) and a fan heater. The tempature of the grow area is sitting at 75 farenheight.

I put the bottom half of a water bottle over the pots for humidity.

When the first 2 broke ground I took the bottles of the pots but now those 2 look although they are dying. The rest still have bottles on them and only broke ground today and are looking good.

an anyone advise me whats happened to the first 2 ?

There has been a massive change in appearence to the ones I took the bottle off of and look as if they are dead.

Any help appreciated

you dont need to put humidity domes over your plants. you may be suffocating them

The thing is the ones with the dome are doing great, the ones I took the dome off of are dead I think, they've basically fallen over. So now I'm scared to take the dome off the others incase the same thing happens to them.

what do they look like? you cant provide a picture?

have they fallen over because the stem is to weak or is there another issue, with the leafs perhaps?

The seeds under the bottle look perfect, bright green and growing strongly. The other two (which I have removed the bottle from) have went from being bright green and growing strong to a darker colour and are no longer going towards the light and have fallen to the side. This all happened within 36 hours of the bottle being removed. they are only 4 days old so the stem can't be too weak.

I've no idea what went wrong.

does it look like this, but fallen over? if so the problem would be your lighting not being close enough to the plants. ill bet thos floro tubes dont put out any heat, so your good to have them within an inch or two from the tops of your plants

Yes they can shoot up really fast looking for light within 36 hours and the stem can get spindly. I agree with kaleo, you should have those flouro's really close it wont hurt them. You don't have to have a humidity dome on them but if you think that may be the problem just put it back on or spray them a little and see if it helps but make sure you give them fresh air. to much humidity can attract fungus gnats and mold. It could just be the plant wasn't gonna make it, maybe bad genetics or something. Good luck!

My guess without a picture is that if they are growing good with the humidity dome over them and when you take it off, they aren't. Then they haven't developed enough roots yet to be able to absorb the water/nutrients to be left out in the open yet. Put the dome back over them for a week or two and make sure you lift it off every couple hours to give it fresh air and keep the dome moist.

i never used a humidity dome EVER. not for seedlings or house plants or clones. i think theyre overrated and unnecessary

Yes you don't have to use them and everybody has their own way of doing things but i don't think their over rated, i agree with demonic that the roots might not be good enough yet and they do help with that kinda like when you take clones, you need to keep them humid for a while for better success because that's how they get their moisture and water with no roots. since he started with a humidity dome his plants might not have focused enough on roots like it would if he didn't start with it. other plants do the same thing to, sometimes you have to acclimate them. But your right you don't have to use them for seedlings or clones but you'll have a better success rate. My opinion anyways.

you should just quit while your ahead. i don't put up with any bullshit from slack ass plants, though. i'd take those two plants outside, stomp on them, then proceed to urinate all over them.

Although I do see your logic I would prefer if you could hazard a guess as to why they died on me.

So what does everyone think,

keep the domes on ?

Take them all of and put the light right next to them or maybe use a more powerful light ?

i to have the same problem with a few bagseed i just germed had good taproot and all put it in soil it rooted the got sad on me ill post pics soon aswell

its either your genetics or your medium. i just germed about 60 seeds from different breeders, all did well except for 30 wonder woman from nirvana. about 8 of the 30 germed and 6 of the germs didn't grow, and two of them grew like yours and died.

what is your medium? are you using miracle grow?

take the domes off..... they don't need em.......

your lights are fine, i use cfl tubes the first couple weeks of veg with great results.
8 t-8s on 30+ plants.

i have all my sprouts under a 400 watt hps about 2 ft away seems to be enough looking to 12/12 after i see my plants are brightening up any help would be aprreciated
