please help/ first grow

so i have started 9 seeds in germination on a wet paper towel, 7 of them sprouting. i planted my seeds in a water bottle that i had cut in half and lined with a paper towel halving soil in the top half and the paper towel touching the water. i panned on a good micro-grow hopefully. so i planted the seeds and put them in a grow box i had made which is about 2 feet tall by one foot wide. and had them under a heat lamp containing a blue heat bulb from my reptile cage. i researched a few things to find out tht most people say not to use a heat lamp. its been about 24 hours or so since planting but i got nervous becuase of the heat bulb and dug up the seeds. unfortunately i brook a few roots which didnt look as white. i replanted the seeds and put them infront of a window until i buy a cfl bulb. will my seeds be ok? did i just kill them and have to start all over again? please im getting paranoid:neutral:

only time will tell :( just keep an eye on them, if you were really carefull getting them out then you should be alright but if you just yoinked them up then chances are you shocked the lil bugger and he will die.

cant say for certain, give it a couple days and be really gentle with them. i would not attept to replant them for at least a week to let them recover.

wht happened is tht i dug them up after them beeing under the heat lamp, breaking the main sprouted root of a few. will those seeds die or survive? should i just start a new germination and go back to step one? and would one cfl light bulb be ok for a grow bux for the time being until i get my computer case and build a stealth box?

the ones you broke will probably not go further unless the tap root was long enough to build on its sides...its like if you take a seedling and cut the top of it off(not topping...just cutting it off and leaving a stick pretty much)...it will just die :)

I suggest you read some information on growing before you do anything else...hell even general gardening techniques is really all you need...

so you didn't read much about growing then? Because every "guide" ive ever seen on growing marijuana touches base on the correct type of lighting to use ;)

I never stop reading about the stuff...i'm always reading...its a never ending battle...go read some more...then when you think you've read enough...read more...there is always something you missed ;)

well...you should never use a "heat lamp"...thats an incandescent thats meant to give heat not light...think of it as an electric burner on your stove...you expect that to grow anything?

and your window is probably not sufficient unless you live in the southern hemisphere at this point...go read that "how to grow marijuana" guide I said earlier...all the info you need regarding lighting is there ;)

Like I said before....before you do READ!...there is a CFL section for micro grows and there are lots of journals you can sift through to get ideas...and ask any questions you might have going along the way...best to ask now before its too late and you've got a 1/2 dead plant to work with ;)

i was looking at a 25 watt cfl which is just about 1750 lumens per bulb. and was planning on putting 3 in. would tht be to much lumens and give my plants light burn?

when using CFL's you really can't go overboard....well i suppose you could...but those two bulbs are definitely not enough to cause light burn unless you stick them right on the plants :D

awsome, you like amazing you post right away giveing me a reassuring feeling. i plan on letting the shocked seeds sit in the damp soil till about monday leaving them undisturbed. im hoping tht the roots pull through cause they were long and when broke stil had alot of whit sticking out, at this point i dnt even care if it sets me back as long as they survive. figure ill post a pix of my pc grow box in about a week when its finished. hoping to grow them in a LST enviroment to force them to flower at a limited hieght.

there is a wealth of knowledge and very approachable ppl. who might help. but there are good ppl. on many sites. but thats my fav. i like it better then my own LOL

any way u will find out soon that the addiction is not in M.J. but the growing. the lights u use like cfl- keep close and mix it up i.e some 2700k and 5000/6500k= ratio is up to u w/ blue/red spectrum. later invest in a HID i.e Metal Halide or High pressure sodium, then there are LED and LEP...but thats another story. might i suggest a site about lumens/lux and liights....its very empirical in its approach...showing graphs and visual aides

for instance, and i pale in comparison to ppl. here.....i have 7 42watt cfl...mix 5000k/2700k, 1 25watt ,1plant bulb (laying aroung and i had a y-socket), 150watt HPS, plus a LED panel next week. but like i said others would laugh....most use 600watt or 1,000 watt HID'S. but it takes time.

i was considering in buying a quarter or regs and planting the seeds i get in the bag. but what plant would i get from regs lol, im such a newb
