Please Diagnose These Seedlings

They are about two weeks old. They are 'Confidential Cheese' and 'Sharksbreath.'

They're growing in small styrofoam cups filled with Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil and being watered every day or every other day with distilled water from the grocery store. They have not been fed any food yet.

They are under T-5 730 watt badboy light.

Some of them have really curled leaves. Some of the leaves are dry and brittle and break off easily. Also one plant is very stunted, it's in one of the pictures, it also has really messed up looking round leaves.

Do you have drainage holes in the bottom of those cups? How often do you water?

Edit: I'm stoned, I see how much you're watering, and it's too often man. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again just like this guy below me said.

You are watering way too much to begin with. Plants require a thorough wet dry cycle to grow roots ad keep them from being drowned.

There are small drainage holes that are about the width of a bamboo skewer on the bottoms of the cups. They are watered whenever the soil looks and feels dry, lately that's been once per day.

Yeah ^^^, when it's actually dry, not when the surface looks dry. The roots grow all the way to the bottom and those are the ones you're drowning by watering those little things every day. Assuming the roots have even been able to reach the bottom with all the water you've been giving them.

New grower rule #2....don't love your plants to death

Good luck with them!

I'm thinking you should git a bigger pot!
The first pic in the second post looks
deformed from the fact that ffof is a little
too hot for seedlings. Put'em in a bigger
pot if they straight up your be alright if
they don't straighten up next time Try
Some Light Warrior till they out grow
of da 1 gallon pot or sunshine mix 4 with
a light dose of nutes will work too~

I made bigger holes using a screwdriver, if I made them any bigger I think the soil would fall out. The lower leaves are drying really bad and crumble to dust. I don't see any new growth though and they are not looking too good. They NEED to survive, over $200 was spent on those beans. How can they be revived?

I transplanted today. I was able to tear away the sides of the styrofoam cups perfectly and the plants, soil, and root ball came out completely without any problems. The soil was actually quite dry.

The store I went to didn't have coco fiber pots in the size I needed, so I left with 1-gallon, thin-walled black plastic pots that have several large drainage holes on the bottoms and sides.

I also picked up some FF seedling soil, if it's not too late. I made a mix of seedling soil, FFOF, and perlite and filled all the pots with it, transplanted, and watered them. I hope that fixes the nutrient overdose issues.

I also picked up a combo soil pH/moisture meter that set me back $35, I hope it's worth it. The guy at the hydro store actually tried to talk me out of buying it and said he doesn't even use one.

Very good start. Let those roots grow into the new medium and you can let the plants tell you when they need to be fed. I repeat, water those 1 gallon plantes as thoroughly as possible once and then wait....wait.....wait for the roots to grow into it and use up all the water. Trust me, the medium will stay wet for many days waiting for the roots to reach it. It may take a week or more of you not doing anything to the plants....at all.... before you need to water or add food.

I wouldnt have watered it in as its suffering lack of o2 as it is. Give them a week or so and i think they will be fine now you have done this, wont happen overnight though so be patient, let the pots dry till light to lift and next time start them in pots with proper drainage holes not foam coffee cups while your sprouting $200 seeds .:wall:

Photos taken today, some of them look a little better. Is there anything else I can do to stimulate growth and do they look like they need ferts yet?
