plants growing slow

I planted seeds in early April using one gallon pots, Im not sure if im over watering? the plants seem to be growing too slow? they get about 8-10 hours of direct sunlight a day and I used miracle grow moisture control ive been watering twice a day. any advice would help out....does this plant look too small for its age? photo (21).jpg

definitely over watered as well if youve been watering twice per day. ditch the mg and you might just save her.... or him.

wow ive never seen so much wood in soil before. looks very compacted your in serious need of perlite

ya man im starting to have 2nd thoughts about this MG biz.....and all the water prob hasn't helped either...

yeah those wood chips can raise the ph of the soil also. try to find some organic soil without time release ferts if possible.

Repot it into a good grade indoor potting mix. That will cover the soil problem. As far as the watering goes, you should gently soak the soil until it runs out the bottom. This way you should only have to water maybe twice a week with a plant that size. Lastly, you should be careful of 10 hours of full sun for a plant that size. It looks a little bleached. Try 5 or 6 hour for a while until it gets a little bigger. That's what I would do anyway. Good luck

thanks man think im gonna ditch the MG and start over just sucks I lost two months of outdoor grow time....

Why ditch em just transplant.... I'm sure at that little the root ball won't be so big.... Hell what could it honestly hurt?

That's MG Moisture Control soil? It sure doesn't look like it; there's no perlite or fertlizer beads and way too much chipped wood. (or has it been watered so much that the chips floated to the top?) It looks more like Kellogg's Gromulch. Neither of them are really that good.

Anyway, yes your plant is incredibly small for its age. You're overwatering at the very least. That tiny plant with MC soil in a 1gal pot shouldn't need water even once a day. Maybe every other day depending on weather. I wouldn't slash it yet, just try to fix whats wrong.

I just transplanted all my plants today I used black gold organic potting soil so I hope things turn around.....the root balls were tiny and that MG soil was super compacted, looks like the roots couldn't grow.....that black gold soil looks way better than the MG stuff....

i usually use 1/4 perlite in my mixes, works pretty well, but some like less and some like more, maybe more will suit your need to water twice a day :p good luck man

mg moisture control is designed to hold moisture in, if you've been watering twice a day with the mg moisture control you are way over doing it. try not to water them until its dry(not dead dry lol) a lot of people will tell you different things about different soil. Truth is it depends on the strain what nutes etc. it needs. Organic will usually be better especially the first few weeks of grow, simply because a seeling does not need nutes. water 2x per day is WAY TOO MUCH WATER. I had my seedlings in 16oz solo cups and i was watering them with 6-8oz of water every 2-3 days! They grew like a motherfukka and i had to transplant in 2 weeks due to them being rootbound. Overwatering kills seedlings. Stop looking for excuses like ph, soil, or other crap.
