Plants are getting too tall

I currently have a small tent 20"x20"x48" with (2) Northern Light Autos in it. They are currently about 45 days old. A week or so ago I had to change my carbon filter to be outside the tent so that I could raise the lights. I got a nasty cold and did not really check on them for a few days but when I did they were about half an inch from the lights. I have raised the lights basically as high as I can although I may be able to gain another inch or two if I mount them directly to the support beams. They have both started to flower and my question is what can I do? Should I try to tie them down some more or bend the stems? Most of my research led me to believe a hands off approach is best with Autos but now I am seriously concerned that this tent is not big enough and I do not have room for a larger one. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Tie them over. Be gentle and go slowly.

So I tied each one with one plant tie to start. I think I may need to move one of these outside because I did not do enough training early enough. They look and smell fantastic though so I am very excited, just hoping all of my mistakes do not end in disaster. Thanks again!

Autos shouldn’t stretch to much in my experience. Have hope. SCROG is great with a single strain. Again that’s from my experience. Even with untopped autos.

I am hoping that is the case. My next grow I am going with photos (Bison Breath) but now I have the concern of potentially getting males and with such a small grow space I am debating how many I should start at once. This is still obviously a ways away but it is a hard decision. If I start 3 plants and get 3 males then I wasted a good chunk of time and if I get 3 females I do not really have the room unless I master training and flower them early. I really think I may need to find room for a second tent even if its just to keep a mother plant because otherwise it is a big gamble. If growing was legal in my state it would make life easier, hopefully one day soon.

Narrow leaf Sativa lean ... gonna get tall . Hot Rod hit on head to try to “ rope “ them under control.
Stretch phase should be slowing ( autos ) close to your stage but you can still train them then let them begin to stack. I believe you will ALSO have to stake some tops as weight increases.

Most times autos actually get better PAST breeder harvest times. Especially sativas.

What do you mean you moved the carbon filter outside the tent? Doesn’t that render the filter useless?

There are a few different genetic testing places. Worth popping 4 and knowing sex within two weeks of germination.

No, it still works. I simply have the air being pushed through the filter instead of being pulled through. The carbon filter I got can be used either way so it worked out extremely well. I specifically bought this filter because I knew space would be an issue.

Link to this filter? I’m genuinely curious at this point because I’m new to this whole growing thing and everything I’ve read says you have to draw through the filter and out of the tent. Always trying to learn more and get better at this

This is not the exact one I have although I will locate the link when I get home but this one lists that it works either way as well (CoolGrows 6 inch Air Carbon Filter, Odor Control Grow Tent Kit with Australia Virgin Charcoal Activated Charcoal Air Filter Scrubber, Pre-Filter Included) I am fairly certain that any carbon filter can be used as an exhaust filter however if it is not designed for that it probably will not work as well.
