Each plant is in a 3 ga. Pot of MG soil. (I know mg is shit, this is my first grow) they are under
(4) 100watt replacement 5000k bulbs
(1) 300watt replacement 2600k bulb.
I have a fan blowing over the plants 24/7. The humudity STAYS at 50-65%
Temp STAYS between 83-90*
Havent fed them until last night, watered an average of once every 3-4 days
So, i used to have a moderate case of nute burn, the plants were growing at a nice, noticable pace, then they got transplanted to 3ga. Of MG.
after about 2 weeks, im started having the very bottom fan leaves curl up, turn yellow/brown and shrivel. They started climbing the plant now up to my 4th set of nodes on each plant is or has shriveled off.
Now the growth isnt noticable almost at all, particularly my fim'd plant.

I tested the soils pH and NPK levels, i got a 7.0 ph, i know just a little alkaline.

Low n,p,and k.
n being the lowest.

I added Vigoro all purpose plant food last night at half dose, i noticed that the fim'd plant grew more last night than in the past two or three days. But still i see some progression of browning on my lowest and oldest leaves.

Is this a nute deficiency or toxicity? Or is it nutes at all? I noticed aswell three small types of crawling bugs in the soil as well (going to home depot for some diotomacious earth after this post).

Solutions???

Does your MG have time release nutes in it? If you're water has a really low ppm you will want to add some cal/mag to it.

Temps are way too high You have burns on the tips of your leaves showing nutrient toxicity but the plant isn't dark green which would be too much N. I think they may be overwatered my friend perhaps. Roots need oxygen so letting them dry out in between watering's could be an option. Good Luck

It looks like your plants need water, cooler air, some veg food for some N, and give it a shot of cal mag+. Don't go crazy though... sometimes plants just need to be left alone and let it do its thing.

Good Day Mr. Trippin.
Reason I asked is that I had leaves that looked like that (and worse), this deficiency, that burn, Ph adjust, toxicity, etc., at least that's what the symptoms indicated.
Got rid of it all when I switched to RO water from the store. Had a noticable difference in less than a week, and this promises to be my best soil grow to date.

Pics from completely different grows.

Let me know if you want the long story.

If you're willing to share, and wgats RO water; reverse osmosis im assuming?

Good Morning Bin.

I stated in other posts that I suck at soil grows, that's why I was growing DWC (deep water culture) at the time. I found it gave me better control of the problems that I kept finding. I was always getting yellow leaves, black margins, knuckling under, curl, spots...just everything, but with DWC I was still getting a fair yield.

I moved, and no basement so my grow was now ground level. In plane sight, almost 2Kw of lights, and the smell of flower. So I did the only thing I could think of, I got a tent. Friggin hot, even with a 6in and a 4in exhaust the tent the temp was 25C, adding the additional heat from the air pumps made DWC impossible without getting a res/chiller setup. More money than I wanted to spend. So back to soil.

So the grow is going "all right", same-o same-o, yellow weak leaves etc. Flower comes around and the fan leaves all die and fall off, got a shit crop. Good potency, lousy yield.

2nd grow, better than the first, mostly because I got rid of the pests that dammaged the first crop.
But I'm still not happy, lots of problem leaves.

I'm visiting a buddy who has been growing soil for decades, and I'm whining to him about my grow problems. We go through what I'm doing. Turns out that we use the exact same soil, a "profession growing substrate", and pretty much the same light and fertilizer. He showed me his grow, none of the problem that I had, big bushy plants. The only difference that we could come up with was the water.

Bought a couple of big jugs of reverse osmosis water from the grocery store, and saw an almost immediate improvement. Such an improvement that I'm using RO water for everything, drinking, cooking, dogs water, house plants...everything. It's a bit costly over the long run, $3.00/19L, I'm using about 6 jugs a week, that's almost $80/mo, so I'm saving up for a good RO system.

My present grow (now that it's recovered) is doing great. I'm using the "profession growing substrate", RO water, 1600W HID light, 20-20-20 fertilizer at apx 50% strength, and a "big bloom" supplement.

The first 2 pics were taken late Nov. You can still see some of the damaged leaves, but well on their way to recovery

Temps to high.

When you water how much are you watering?
Do you water to the point of saturation and run off?

Your soil looks dry. One of the pics it looks dry enough for the dirt to dry and shrink and pull away from the side of the pot. The last pic.

You have burnt tips from hot soil or you nutrients. What is the npk on the bag of mg?

Appreciate the thorough reply Hugo, I'll go invest into some RO water today, this is their non-fed water day anyways, ill fill back in a couple days and see how they liked the water!!

You're grows looking beautiful btw!

So I've taken care of the heat issue for the most part, thank god its winter! Ive got a window open in the room where the grow closets located. It's staying between 74-78 now instead of 84-90.
When i water, i use 2, 20.oz bottles per plant, i do recieve a small puddle of runoff every watering. And as for the n-p-k on the MG, it is .21-.11-.16.

I fed them Vigoro plant food once, it stopped the spread of yellowing leaves, I just bought them a new bottle of FF grow big and took the vigoro back.

Take them to a sink or bath tub and run 2-3 times the pot size worth of water through them.
Keep watering until drenched and the pots are really heavy.

I doubt the mg soil is too hot at .21 .11 .16.

When you water you want the soil to be completely soaked and holding all the water it can.
2 20oz bottles of water is not enough. I would probably water with close to a gallon each plant when you water.

You want more run off when you water. For a 3 gallon pot, at least 2-3 cups of run off if not more.

Don't worry about over watering. That is an issue you get with poor drainage or watering to frequent.
As long as your soil is draining, water until drenched and heavy. Wait for pots to feel light and repeat.
