oh I should re-read when I cant remeber the OP. haha sorry

use 24 hours of lighting never turn it off, 18/6 saves money but that isnt important here.

12/12 is ONLY FOR FLOWERING. not for vegging.

Stick with 24hr LIGHT for cloning and to reduce stress dude. Get one more of those bulbs hanging over her and she'll take off trust me, its worth the extra cash.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DUDE, WHY ARE YOU TELLING HIM TO HAVE HIS LIGHT ON 12/12. ARE YOU INSANE???

24 hours of light for veg.

12/12 for flowering.

For now until I seal up my light box and create good circulation I will be using 18/6. The reason for this is that I dont have to worry about my parents walking into my room and accidentally finding it at night if they come close to it. It will be turned on at 12am and turned off at 6pm. After then light box is fixed up I will run 24/0. I will stick to the one globe for now because its not a very big clone.

Thanks for all the advice. Im looking forward to seeing what happens.

Meant no harm and I'm sure no harm was done, sometimes me mind goes one way whilst me hands type in the other. 24hrs for clones will cause the least stress plus promote vigorous root growth. Are you gonna be okay goddess? That was quite a reaction for just a few numbers, oh well maybe grow a little more for youself? oh well. So BLAH It seemed like you were leaning towards outdoor grow at the beginning, did you change your mind or did you just construct the box to let the clone get established. Outdoors would be near perfect in AU its beautiful there. Good luck with the grow mate.

GanjaGoddess, I trust you'll catch any spelling errors I made:leaf::fire::leaf:

Hey all, new to the forums. Iv finally decided that Im going to attempt my first grow (outdoor). I managed to pinch a cutting off of a mates dads plant (which we dont really want him to know about), that im currently in the process of cloning into a mother plant for more clones. Im currently on the 7th day of cloning using the plain water method. And although im fairly sure that its female, I thought I would just check incase im wasting my time. And if anyone has any info on the strain that would be great, or is it still too early to tell?

Thanks.
LOOKS to me like it needs more light but i might be wrong

Yep, growing outside and made the light box just to start the clone. The area I live in is ideal for growing. I live in a valley surrounded by forest with tracks going off everywhere. Its a little bit cold at the moment but better late than never! Plus if I make a clone from every cloned plant, it should keep me busy right through summer :)

Since using the CFL I have noticed little white hairs forming, so hooray for that! But im concerned about the plant because the tips on the leafs are drying up and dying. Could this just be the plant in shock because of the new light pattern? Iv noticed that the bottom of the stem is going a little bit brown too after 18 days with no sign of roots. Should I make a new clean cut a few centimeters up the stem to try give it another clean start?

I dont get it. Its still growing but still no sign of roots and the leafs are starting to turn slightly yellow. I have a funny feeling that its now too late for it to root (especially after incandescent light, oops), and that I should make a clean cut on the stem to freshly expose it to the water. Its now day 22.

And whats peoples thoughts on using honey as a rooting hormone? Iv heard alot of people have success with this. Im not looking to buy genuine products because I dont have alot of resources in my area.

Just make sure it's pure honey, NOT a honey/glucose mixture. It works very well. Just dip the cutting end into the honey, and plant. Honey is antibacterial and anti-a lot of things, so it helps to keep the cutting healthy, and encourages root growth.
I dont know if it will do well for ganja, but I would at this point give the cutting somemore time to try and root.

You see just using water with low light levels is the least effective way to root cuttings.

Check out AL B fucts Photo essay on cloning, It is the best DIY I have ever seen on cloning.

Well I dont think its going to make it. The leafs are really starting to turn yellow and the stems purple? I had a close look at the main stem today and its thin and soft as hell, almost like a drinking straw. I decided to make another cut up the stem where its still a bit harder (but not much length remaining), then dipped it in pure honey (thought why not try) and will see how it goes. If it dies I might start from scratch with seeds, or just try another cutting. See how it goes.

check out al b photo essay on cloning.

it would help to slice the stem just alittle and scratch off a bit of the outside skin of the bottom as well
