Id say if u want to stop having issues with this an any other plantes u grow 2 very important things for any newbie make your own well drain soil or soiless mix and def. have a ph meter. I dont trust any garden pot mix sold, messes to much with your ph and bairly drains. With no ph meter it dont mater what u feed your plants youll never know what its consuming if ph is off.
I use regular old Miracle Grow potting soil (the cheap one without all the time release junk, 7 bucks a bag), Miracle Grow Perlite (4 bucks per bag) and mix them about 60/40 soil to perlite. Never had a problem. Drains well, doesn't clog up, nothing.

Agree totally on a PH meter though. Without testing you're really just flat-out guessing at what's going on.

U wonder maybe what mix here is a easy 1 u can buy any where and is cheap tu start with 50% perlite 30% peatmoss and about 20% topsoil add half the topsoil add more top soil little by little till u get a perfect ph use a small nursing pot to mesure drainned water with ph meter till u get it right since i notice ph is not same in all top soils. If u have easy access to dolomite lime u can use a 50% perlite and 50% peatmoss and add lime till u reach the ph u desire.

I totally agree on the D-Lime. I usually mix mine with water and add it that way. One good dose will last pretty much the whole grow. It's great stuff. Makes your PH nearly bullet proof.

Hey everyone :leaf:

I was strongly determined to bring it back, i think its time to tell you guys why i had to save this thing so much so you know why i didn't just start over.
I met my buddy Big smokey about 8 years ago and we were tight as hell to the end, he passed away in his 20s 6 months ago due to a heart problem. Big smokeys mother took a cutting for me from his plants before she chucked them out, big smokeys plants were not just any ordinary smoke this stuff looked like it was caught in a snowstorm and the ice never melted the taste was amazing like a mango with a hint of citrus this was my only physical thing that i could use to remember the great times with my friend Big smokey so i have been trying to keep it going ever since.

i will be cloning soon just to get a backup and might put it on 12/12 to flower after all it has been though

coreywebster yeah this is a grow in a fridge i replaced my old one and thought this would make a good grow box it has the shelving so its real easy to move the plant up or down without messing with the lights.

i got PH strips but i don't know if it will read the runoff water from the pot correctly. i don't know when to give the plant nutrient's again but it seems to be going good without them.
having dealt with fungus gnats i thought it might be smart to cover the intake with a piece of fine mesh material so they can only get in while the door is open, and as a preventative measure against spider mites i don't know what to do but if these things come back while the plant is bigger i will have a hard time spraying all the leaves.

thanks :-)
