Plant not sprouting. Any ideas? I'm stuck..

Hey guys. Repost from last night. My kaya gold seeds aren't sprouting from the soil after germination.. I don't understand what the problem is. I have grown 2 plants before, and they both sprouted perfectly fine in under a couple hours. But these seeds don't like to sprout, I guess.. I've left pictures of my setup and the seed after it died. Could anyone tell me exactly what the problem is? Ill leave EVER price of information I can give you.

Location: Texas, US
Room: closet
Lights: CFL's. 3 daylight CFL's(4800 lumens) 2 warm CFL's(8400 lumens) and a pair of T8 tubes Daylight CFL's(3000 lumens)
Temp: around 75-80
Humidity: really don't know. I have cups of water never to the lights to increase humidity.
Soil: jiffy pitting soil + a little perlite
Water: distilled. Have the soil a good watering after planting seed.
Germination time: 2-3 days(root was around 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch before planting)

After planting: received 24 hours of straight light. Then died in less that 10 hours.
Lights distance: about 3-4 inches away from the seed

You fried her. too much light. When they are tiny, you need to tkae it easy. I use one 42W 6500K CFL and keep a few inches away early on. ONce she starts getting some leaves, I up it.

I had the same issue, I was getting really worried that I had germinated incorrectly. I put a plastic sandwich baggie with some slits cut into it and placed that over my cups. two days later ... they pooped. They were probably in the ground almost 5 days since I planted them.

I'm using three 43W 6500K bulbs about 2 inches away from my cup. I added a cup of water in there since my humidity is really low (need to relocate my box).
I think the rule of thumb is 100 true watts per plant. In my case, 126W should be suffice for my two plants.

When are you trying next?

Already have more germing. So I should lessen up on the light after planting?

This makes sense.. When's first 2 sprouted, all I had was the tubed pair or T8 lights. Since then, I added a lot more..

They dont need light at all for the first 6-7 days.. if you want to give then some strength give them some daylight from your window. Dont expose them to heat stress also..

Okay so from what I've obtained from everyone, I need to lessen the light. I also need to germinate differently?

I use a cotton bud wet on bottom, and cover with a dry. leave it in your closet for 1-2-3 days and it will germ normally. When you see it started germing keep it there until the "root/seedling" reaches 1 cm. then plant it in 1 cm hole, use a pen/pencil to make it. Cover it up gently and dont use light at all or use a little and from a good distance, you don't want to fry it with heat. Good luck.

EDIT: Also don't feed any nutes for the first 10 days.

Offtopic: I remember on primary school at age 6 we planted lentils this way. It's easy.

I'm on board with dEvlKinG, less light is good. I wasn't aware of using just daylight but that does make a lot of sense.

I germinated mine by putting them in a cup of water for 24hrs then the paper towel for a day or two. Since I'm new, I put them in soil before any root sprouted and got really worried. Next time, I'm going to do the paper towel method. Just remember to make sure they are covered in darkness. Some even put their paper towel into a ziplock back for extra humidity.

Mmmmm .. lentils!!
