Thanks. Anyone recognize this? The buds form on the spikes of branches...They're sharp enough for ancient tattoo mess.......

Nope it's tomatillo. The two little plants took over a good portion of my garden and I have probably about 50 or so berries between the 2 plants. Just need to figure out what I'm going to do with them now!
I know, like zucchini... A friend of mine made the mistake of planting several rows of them in his field, ended up having some as big as 15 lbs. when he didn't get around to picking them in time, and was feeding all his neighbors for 4 houses on either side.

The branch does have thorns so I don't see why not. It only produces white flowers similare to cherry blossoms.

hawthorns also produce little almost crabapple like fruits in fall.
also crabapple trees produce thorn like protrusions...idk what there called. i just woke up. but they are different from the thorns of hawthorns hawthorns can put out thorns as long as 6". i had a friend doing some work on one once. a 6" thorn got impaled into his leg. but fortunetly we got it all out.
