Plant count.

I’m planning on getting a system within the next month to start a grow just after New Years and I’m trying to work out how many plant sites I should use for a 5x5 area is 4 plants in Rdwc to much for a space that size or would 2 be better? I only want to veg for 30 days and then flower for hopefully 70 max so do a harvest every 100 days.

Are you including the 2-3 weeks of stretch before flowering really starts?
Sounds like you want a bunch of small plants so maybe 9 or more.
i never really explain myself enough haha nah I don’t want small plants at all I’d be scrogging the plants but I’d be attempting to flip at the point of filling the canopy with the extra growth horizontally instead of vertically

Problem is at 30 days if you topped there’s not much to scrog, more of a sog. You should take a look at a few grow journals of people in hydro that scrog to get an idea of what you want. I would do 2 plants personally, there’s not room for three and one would word but your waiting longer on veg time. 70 days after flip is probably not going to work either unless you have. Something that finishes very fast. I would just lower my time expectations and enjoy the grow.

Agreed. 30 days of veg ain't gonna fill it.

yeah that’s true my expectations are probably a little unrealistic and I’m probably just getting ahead of myself. I’ll go on and have a look through and see what I can find cheers for the response :peace:

There’s nothing wrong with 4 in that space imo, enjoy the shorter veg time and the extra variety if you’re not growing all one clone
That was my initial thought I’d just be worried that it would just become this big over grown bush but I guess that comes down to be maintaining it properly. I’ve only grown in coco and soil before which is ‘I’m assuming’ a lot easier to maintain growth and structure of plants but then again maybe I’m wrong about that

For sure dwc produces some fantastic growth rates but aslong as you keep ontop of it you won’t have a problem, Infact when it comes to the scrog you can be much more picky about which branches you keep and which branches you trim off because you’ll have a lot more to choose from.

I personally send my plants to flower with around half the branches they finished veg with, everyone’s situation is different though and I can understand only wanting to veg plants for the minimum amount of time to fill the space so I guess it’s each to their own

I've scrogged loads of times with 4 plants in spaces of 4x4 or 2x2 per plant and I would maybe fill a 2x2 net with 30 days veg from a very well rooted clone. But I wouldn't rely on filling it in 30 days.

Most of the time my veg plants go way longer because I'm behind schedule.

So I wouldnt expect to fill a 5x5 with 4 plants and only 30 day veg from clone.
From seed, you've got no chance.

Takes me almost 2 months to fill a 3x3.

Yeah definitely I guess it’s all trial an error when you haven’t used a certain grow method before. It’d just been nice to not have to wait so long for the buds haha

So even with the 2-3 weeks of stretch during flower you don’t think it would even come close to filling it with well rooted clones?
