Planning to buy a soldering gun need help

A friend of mine uses one on electrical wiring in car restoration and loves it. It works instantly... a hot iron works almost instantly too though.

How it would perform on solder pads so close to the LES I'm not sure, but the flame is small. It might work fine but I can only guess.

I ruined a P2KC (I think) by using Ronson fuel. Use the best quality butane.

Unless I was doing a lot of work in the field, I'd get a plug-in iron first--but either style will build a luminaire.

I have one of the stand-up torches but I've never used it. A pen-type iron is more comfortable and controllable. I use an electric heat gun for heatshrinking.

Get a Hakko -whichever models have the ceramic heating element…Then you can unscrew the metal soldering apparatus and use the inner heating element as a flameless lighter -for those extra special connoisseur occasions!
