I helped out the local icecream parlor with their recycling program and received the buckets for free. Mason jars only hold a couple ounces, weigh too much and are expensive.
I'm the lightest in our family at 175lb, but do love frozen yogurt, gelato and icecream.

Vacuum sealed in a box sent UPS, from what I was told.
