"Pistol Whipped" pruning

So has anyone ever heard of this type of pruning? I read an article on outdoor growing and obtaining huge yields, like a 10lb plant, that this guy used pistol whipped pruning. Basically it's removing the growth stems and leaving the fan leaves below the canopy so you can power your plant. But I know nothing about this type of pruning. Any insights?

Is this for real? What the hell is a growth stem? A branch? i dont think my plants would like being pistol whipped very much..

What article was that? I tried to googlefoo pistol whip pruning canabis but all it turned up were article of people being robbed for weed.

Let's just say, if it's not common prctice, it's likely bro-science.

Sounds kind of like lollipopping an outdoor plant but leaving the fan leaves behind for solar energy. Doesn't make much sense to me and if it worked wonders it would be going on in most commercial grows. They tend to do things efficiently, especially if it's cheap to do so. If you come up with more info please share it. I'm always interested in learning new stuff. Even when I disagree with it, it often makes me think about new ways of doing things and helps me improve my grow.

I believe he means remove growth nodes but leave fan leaves where those nodes were removed.

We always tell folks don't remove a bunch of leaves as they are what powers the plant.

But if you have good training techniques your canopy should be even and full. This would block sunlight from getting to these lower leaves for the most part. Plus your canopy if full should be more than enough to give great bud.

With this I don't really see the point of taking a ton of extra time to "pistol whip" my plant.

Btw the name makes zero sense. Who ever came up with this was probably pistol wiped hard 10 minutes before they named this technique

You ever tried bitch slap pruning?

outdoors plants get huge AF on their own without all any crazy pruning method. In fact I think if they get enough sun you don't have to do shit but take off dead leafs and spray bugs off with a hose. Put the plants in a place it gets lots of breeze and lots of sun and good soil and you can't lose.

People pulling 15lbs from one plant are first vegging it outside of season. I don't know if any plant that can make that kind of yield from seed or clone in one season. Would love to see proof to the contrary.
