Pine Tree Roots

New guy here. I live in Phoenix and I am going to try an outdoor grow this year.
I was getting my holes ready this weekend and ran into a 4" pine tree root about 28" deep. Will the roots affect my grow? Thanks

you can take an axe to it and it wont harm the pine tree, but how close are the pine trees to your grow, is it pine tree pin's turned into soil your planting into?
not a good idea, pine pins are nitrogen hoggers and you will have to deal with the acidity of the soil quite apart from that.
your best off planting in pots, you can bury them in a pit/planting hole you've dug out, but will need to line it with heavy duty plastic sheeting. and also protect the top of the pots from pine needles dropping into and on top of your pots.
great for protection and subdifuge though

Having lived in phoenix for a bit I would just stop at that depth and bury pots
It’s hard to water enough for in-ground plants in that climate
But buried half way ?
No issues
I'm going to give it a go. This is more to see if I can. I'm hardening off 4 autos in 10 gallon bags to go outside for good this weekend. I'm trying different things just to see if I can.
It's hard to find much information about outdoor growing here so I'll learn it myself.

Since you mention it's very dry in the area would it be a good idea to dig garbage can sized holes, put garbage cans into the holes then back fill the garbage cans with premium soil? Leave enough space from the rim of the can to the top of the soil in the can so you can dump a 5 gallon bucket of water into the garbage can. ?

great idea, i was going to mention those plastic garbage cans, burried, especialy if water in the ground is at a premium, there going to nred all the help they can.
now i seem to remember this stuff called swell gel, it holds something like 10 times its weight in water, it will contoinue to give the plants water untill you rehydrate them by watering.
if your going the out door auto root, you can just reuse soil by adding dry amendments and reuseing the soil, and the gel within it. just a thaught
long term 8investment as it were

The garbage can was an expansion of @Herb & Suds submerged pot concept.

Since OP is only doing four plants that's two five bucket trips. Dump & go. The garbage cans could possibly be cut in half.
