So I just wanted to point out that counting trichomes would be basically impossible, and even if you could do that it wouldn't tell you much about potency. If you don't have any way to directly measure the THC content of your final product (i.e., a lab result), then this experiment will only be anecdotal at best. If you can actually do the lab test for THC %, maybe it would be interesting to follow. Even though I'm 95% sure it will not help your THC production, I'd be interested in the results of such an experiment!

The only thing that it could change is nute uptake/waterlevels and stuff. And i'm pretty sure nature has figured out the best way, without nails. If you don't trust nature, well you shouldn't be using her herbs
