It was on tv today and I watched a bit of it. It's in a couple of the pet shop scenes. I think it is.
My guess judging from the filming date that it is a standard Mastiff.
Boerboels are just becoming popular (recognized by the AKC just last year) and the odds of one being in the US 40 years ago are pretty slim.

I was at a friends house in the mountains and this flew in. At first I thought it was strange for a moth to fly around during the day and they said "Look! It's a hummingbird!". I'd not seen one in real life for 30 years since I was in Hungary. @curious2garden
OMG isn't that amazing? I always feel honored by a hummingbird visit LOL

Very nice. The red flowered plant looks like Galvesia speciosa, I have a couple of them and the hummers love them
