***PICS*** New growth has dark blotches and is wilting ***PICS***

Here's a quick update. It looks like new growth is starting to develop brown spots also.. still waiting for my ppm/ec/cf meter. The fox farm chart gives me ranges of ppm and ec; is that the total value including the ppm of the water or not including? Also, what's the deal with the different companies' measurements? My meter is called a Nutra-Wand. Thanks. Take a look see.

And this, my friend, is why i don't do hydro any longer. too many companies trying to set their own standards.

thankfully, you can still take 28 drops of Schultz 10-15-10, a half teaspoon of potassium nitrate, and a quarter teaspoon of magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) to a gallon of water. If your water has low calcium content, some calcium nitrate added will suffice as well, just watch the pH.

Good growers can take the cheap stuff and make great product.

That being said, this looks like a micronute deficiency since the yellowing is happening around the middle leaf areas. Molybdenum and Manganese and Magnesium. A foliar feed of those should help.

Hey Kali,
I mixed up Fox Farm Hydroponic Grow Big in a spray bottle and I will foliar feed with that. How often should I do this? I haven't seen any pictures of a Molybenum deficiency, but Grow Big contains .0009% of it. It also has .05% Manganese and .5% Magnesium so I think it should work well. Thanks for the information!

If it contains the micronutes and low macronutes you should only need to do it once every two weeks or so.

Hello everyone,
Just a quick update. I started using the fox farm nutes yesterday and I'm slowly introducing it into my reservoir. As a result the plant shot up about an inch. Also my new plants' cotelydons and leaf tips are yellow because I think they were starved for nutrients after being fed only distilled water for two straight weeks. I mixed up a bottle of fertilizer and I'm going to top the reservoir with that from now on. Here's a picture update. Are my seedlings okay? The middle plant is one month old today and the little sprouts are 2 weeks old. I think they are stunted. Thanks.

So it looks like the plant is eating the nutrients considering in a day the ppm and ec is significantly down. I topped off the reservoir again today and the current conditions are:

ppm of reservoir w/nutes: 100 - 110
ec of reservoir w/nutes: .2

yellowing tips is generally a sign of overwater. H2O pressure in a capillary system is rather odd for differnt plants, even different strains of the same plant. Maybe a few minutes less of exposure in the reservoir?

I don't think it's an overwatering issue because the last picture is the seedling that has it the worst and it gets the least amount of water. That particular hole in the aerogarden drips instead of flows like the other 6 holes. The cotelydons are completely yellow and they should be bigger considering they're two weeks old. I honestly think two weeks of plain distilled water is too long without adding at least some nutes. Thanks!

The cotyledons are like the "yolk" of a plant. eventually they are supposed to wither away and die off. Usually this happens in about three weeks to four weeks. The seedling lives off of that until it has established a good root and leaf system for nutrient gathering and photosynthesis, then it does it's thing and the cotyledons are no longer needed.
