Phresh filter with AC Infinity exhaust

I’ve got two AC Infinity inline fans running off the same temp/humidity controller, once as exhaust and one as intake. Now, for space, I was planning on putting the fans on the outside of the tent. To do this in combination with my phresh filter, Can I mount the filter on the other end of the exhaust fan, for the fan to push air through? Should I mount the filter inside the tent and run ducting from the filter to the fan outside of the tent, or do I need to have the filter on the inside end of my exhaust fan, where I’m pretty much stuck putting both inside the tent?

thanks in advance for any help

Sure can, I do exactly that with my AC Infinity 6”. Carbon filter outside. AC Infinity inside.

In tent AC Infinity, ducting running from it to the outside of tent with the carbon filter outside at the end.

Works fine.

Sorry I had to reread the question. I would suggest pushing air thru the filter, less chance's for unfiltered air to leak outside.

This is great news! I thought i had overlooked something that was gonna eat my ceiling space in the tent. This makes it easier, i will stick the fan right in Front of the exhaust port and run a little ducting to where I will hang the filter on the exterior of the tent, pushing air through it!

It will work....but just know

Blowing into filters. The inner surfaces of the filter can become clogged with particulate much sooner.
No sock, less surface area.
If i were to pull through filter, is it okay to have ducting in between fan and filter? If not, is it okay to keep both filter and fan outside of tent and run ducting inside of tent? My biggest concern isn’t so much whether to do push or pull, i will do whatever works best in that regards, I just dont want to have to hang both the fan and filter inside of my tent if i dont need to.

Okay cool, I didn’t realize that the “pre-filter” was the sock that I have seen on carbon filters before, that definitely makes more sense. I can do the filter inside the tent with ducting going to the fan outside the tent. I will probably just set the intake fan right outside the tent too. I’m just about to mount the fans and filter, throw the light up and then I’m just waiting on a couple more things to arrive and its germination time.

You gots it.

(germ? keep them in vented solo cups until they are robust - seedlings in those big pots is a recipe)

Make sure you get the best quality ducting. Cheap/thin aluminum ducting can deteriorate quickly or might have pinholes straight from the factory, these things can cause unfiltered air to bypass the filter and escape.

I wouldn't do that, because even the best 6 layer merv 13 ducting won't be able to fully contain the smell before it finally hits your carbon filter. And as a side note... AC Infinity makes awesome fans, but there so-called high quality 4 layer ducting is junk, so don't trust it to move smelly air outside your tent / grow area to your carbon filter that is outside your tent / grow area!

The AC infinity ducting is about the best budget ducting you can get. Running the filter on the outside of the tent will shorten the filter life but I've never had issues with the smell leaking through the duct and that was with cheaper ducting as well.

My ideal setup is air cooled light open on one side with small length of duct on other side of the hood which connects to fan inside tent for noise and then ducted out to push through carbon filter outside the space. I’ve pushed through homemade carbon filters without replacing the carbon for 4-5 grows in the past with no smell whatsoever. I’m assuming a good name brand filter would do an even better job than my tiny homemade one ever did. From what I understand, you take the prefilter and insert inside of the carbon filter if you want to “push” through it..
