I just sprouted an auto to run along side my 4 other photoperiod strains. I'm curious to see what people think about running them together
That's the first thing I thought of, after I already popped it lol.I've been advised not by a couple of experienced growers. Especially in a tent setting try to stick to identical or similar phenos. You will have a hard time keeping an even canopy aka properly using your light
Will flipping them to 12/12 affect their output? I figure it wouldn't be a problem managing an even canopy like you described.I've done it when testing auto's.....
NO big deal at all.
The only thing was the auto's were shorter and that's your concern right?
Simple solution! Put the auto's on stands ,buckets turned upside down etc, etc!
Just put them on something to raise them up to the photo's canopy..
EASY: I do it often, so long come 12x12 the autos are done otherwise you my be cutting the autos back on qualityI just sprouted an auto to run along side my 4 other photoperiod strains. I'm curious to see what people think about running them together
Yea it will give you less yeild. Keep 18 on if you can. Will flipping them to 12/12 affect their output? I figure it wouldn't be a problem managing an even canopy like you described.
That might work out perfect anyway, thanks for the help guysYou can veg while growing autos and then flip to 12/12 when the auto's are harvested.
If you want smaller auto's and less you could run them 12/12.
Decided against a second tent myself I'm pheno hunting too. That might work out perfect anyway, thanks for the help guys

Thats like saying a photo wont lose yeild if you put them under 6/18...instead of 12/12... an auto needs the light... i agree that 24hr is a waste... but so is 12/12 for an auto IMO.@incogneato420
As a plant, it's still the same as a photo in all respects, except the plant will flower on it's own. It does not use circadian rhythm by light to start to flower.....
Your NOT reducing yields by running them 12/12 during their blooming! If you have a veg area - run them in there! If not - don't worry about it! Your not going to "loose" enough "yield" by running at 18/6 over 12/12 to matter! 24/0 is just stupid! Waste of money!
You all have to stop using "Logic" to create conclusions.....The plant works by it's own natural rules..
You just don't "get it" man!Thats like saying a photo wont lose yeild if you put them under 6/18...instead of 12/12... an auto needs the light... i agree that 24hr is a waste... but so is 12/12 for an auto IMO.
What I think you'll find is the ones in less light stretch more looking for light. You just don't "get it" man!
No one put any more "needing the light" into an Auto! You can't DO that in breeding plants!
12/12 will not make you loose any "significant" amount of yield!
I've done plenty of playing with them when they came out and with some different grow methods too.. I never found a viable reason to run them any more then 14/10 and no reasonable loss at 12/12...vs even a 24/0!
Hell ya know what? Got asked to join the Skywalker Auto comparative grow. I plan on starting it in 4 weeks....I'll be running plants under 3 differing BLOOM lighting times to show the "truth" on exactly this issue! In the end we'll look at weights from 1 at 24/0, 2 at 18/6 and 2 at 14/10. I will weight the yields of each plant and list them. You can take the results from there!
Sound good?
Thanks for checking in, I've seen you around the boards and definitely respect your opinion.. It would be cool to see the results from that comparative grow. You gonna post it up?You just don't "get it" man!

I'm thinking you're right on the moneyWhat I think you'll find is the ones in less light stretch more looking for light.
The ones in more light make more bud weight if you harvest at the same time.
It may be the 24 hour finishes faster than a 12/12 as well.
Need 2 at 24 if you are going to be fair about it.
Make sure to record plant sizes/height as well throughout grow.
How many phenos in the strain that can happen.
I think 2 at 24/0 and 3 at 12/12 would show something.
More light equal more use of nutrients etc...
What I have found is they do not like straight 24/7 strong ( 70k+ lux ) light because that's not what they get.
But yeah it'll be interesting to see this strain and what is has in it when you grow it out.
