Phosphorus Def!!

Need something fast acting to fix a P def in my super soil. I thought it was nute burn but someone here helped me diagnose the problem.

I'm looking for a high P tea. I plant to switch to 12/12 here in a week or so. Ive top dressed with a super soil I had cooking. a couple inches. but I notice burnt tips and edges of the serrated leaves. I know the P that is in my SS won't be available for a while since it's only on the top 3 inches of my 7 gallon pots. How can I give my girls enough P til my top dress kicks in?

Pics and whats in your soil may help.

What he said ^^^

Too much of one thing can lead to not enough of another due to lockout. I am dealing with mag def due to too much calcium in my water locking it out.

base soil: peat moss, ewc, perlite. 1/3 ratio each.

1 cup garden lime

ammendment mix: epsoma plant tone, crab, neem, alfalfa. 1 cup each mixed together then added 2-3 cups per cf soil.

ammendment mix #2: 2 cups fish bone meal, and 2 cups kelp added to soil.

and then I started to see deficiencies of nitrogen about 2 months later from seed.. older growth yellowing and burning and eventually falling off. rapidly taking over the plant. so I was advised to top dress with my ss and water it in. so I added the top dress and it seemed to quickly fix my N def. but now this is happening to all my fan leaves. old and new growth.

yeah that's what I think it is. I had that thought initially but I don't know how to determine it being an excess of something causing the lockout.

I also thought nute burn cause this occurred after my top dress.

Crab 2-3-0

neem 6-1-2

Alfalfa 2.5-0.5-2.5

Epsoma plant tone 5-3-3

Fish bone meal 3-16-0

Kelp meal 1-0-2

Is all of this in your SS or was there a few mixes used? 2-3 cups per cf of soil seems heavy to me, is that what you top dressed with?

You don't have any humus in your mix. Why not?

Ok so you topdress with ss at thw ratios you stated above. But what is underneath that? Just your base mix? Or did i miss that.

Crab 2-3-0

neem 6-1-2

Alfalfa 2.5-0.5-2.5

Epsoma plant tone 5-3-3

Fish bone meal 3-16-0

Kelp meal 1-0-2

Idk mu best runs are with mixes with 5 cups ammrndments and 4 cups minerals. So i wouldnt think 2-3 cups would be a problem at all. But i agree ewc wont cut it as only compost source. Composted manure or some sort of humus material is vital! And reapplied during recycled.

@bankcee. This reminds me also that next time think about topdressing with compost or even ewc instead of "super soil" these soils are not some magic cure all. I dont see how top dressing could help much at all. The true power of the ss is unlocked when symbiosis between rhizosphere, bacteria and fungia. And entire system works together. Most nutrient sources need those mircobes to break down avail nutrients to the plants. It doesnt just water in a top dress. Hell i think youd be better off even mixing rse ammendments with ewc snd toodrressing with that they are that hungry.

Any way good luck. They are hungry and i woild suggest adding another cup raw ammendments to your mix. And not soing any layers or different mixes throughout the pot.

couldn't source any compost that seemed to be good but then again I don't know much about humus.

just the worm poo.

what do you mean was all this in my ss? yeah that's my ss recipe. and it all went into my 7 gallon smart pots. no half this and half ss.

I actually had the ss in the pots. about 3/4 full of ss. transplanted into that about 2 months ago. and then I started noticed problems. and I was advised to top dress with ewc/perlite to see if it was my micro life going dormant. so I did and the problems I was seeing, the ewc top dress wasn't helping much til I added this ss a few days ago and now it's seems like it helped them but a little too much.

so adding the raw ammendments to my soil mix would fix my soil thay doesn't have a plant in it. my stored soil. what do I do about those burnt edges and tips. what do you think it is and how do I fix it?

Yes. Plan ahead take notes. Lol.
But in the mean time, top dress eith 1/2 inches or so ewc. Right away. This xsnt hurt.
Secound. How often do you apply aact?
A simple nutrient tea can be useful

Kelp. Alfalfa maybe guanos if you want. Bubbles for 48 hours. Strain and serve. 1 tbsp each per gallon max for me on nutrients.
