Ph'ing Hydroton does Nothing

So people keep recommending to PH Hydroton for hydro use in 5.6-5.8 ph'ed water.

I do that, but every time I check the Ph after 48 hours( bucket I am soaking the Hydroton) its goes back up to its original PH.

I have done test and even Ph'ed every 2 days for a whole week in 5.6 ph'ed water.

Guess what, The PH will eventually go back to it original PH which is around 7.0

SO it is useless then?

I read you just need to flush it out real good to remove any remaining dust from the manufacturing process. I grew using hydroton once and I just gave it a good rinse until the runoff water was clear. I always thought it was rockwool that needed to be soaked in ph'ed water before use.
