Philadelphia cop shoots himself intentionally

21 year veteran of the Philadelphia police department shoots himself in the shoulder intentionally, possibly to get attention or a transfer. WTF????? I can think of a whole lot of better ways (that don't involve causing intentional harm) to get attention or a transfer. This guy wins the douchebag of the week award. Congratulations officer Ralston, you've earned it.

I lived in philly area for a bit .. i got to know a few phila cops. This guy probably shot himself because for one of three reasons 1) he's fucking retarded 2) He wants pain meds ( opiate abuse is like 19th century china there) 3) he's scared for his fucking life, philly criminals and cops seem to just shoot at anything. so much corruption, abuse of power, the criminals all seem to have guns ( rightly so for their protection from other criminals)
The few cops i knew ranged from cokeheads, pill heads, compulsive gamblers, and criminals themselves. One used to come to my place of business and sell shit he would rob from drug dealers after stealing their drugs of course... ahhh .. and let us not forget the racists antics of the PPD.
some people would think that i'm referring to Mumia Abul Jamal. But if you grew up in that area.. ( PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO DEBATE THIS) you would have seen the behavior of the MOVE movement, and the case isn't that he was framed. There is ALOT of grey area in that case.

I remember when they said this dude got shot,they had everybody looking for somebody and now to hear this shit is hilarious.

I vote for the cop of the year award! Cops should look at this guy for inspiration on how to really make their communities a better place to live.

He could've gotten a disability pension which can be up to 100% of his highest salary. There are also usually "lump sum" payments which are predetermined by the pension boards for a specified injury. He may still qualify for and receive some form of a pension because his lawyer will claim PTSD and his case may take years to conclude but they usually get it.

Ha! Fortunately they aren't all like this guy. At least he didn't hurt anybody else (although he could've gotten someone hurt in the wild goose chase he had his brothers in blue on). The irony is if he is seeking a disability pension he could've just gone to see a counselor and he probably would have been pensioned off for PTSD. They definitely get more money if they are shot and wounded in the line of duty, plus they usually get a medal and a parade in their honor.

My first time buying weed on my own, a friend of mine told me where we could pick up some nicks.. this guy took me there. I realized a couple weeks later he wasn't taking me with him to buy weed. I was so naive i would take the el down and walk around the badlands myself trying to cop a few nick bags. Thinking back how fucking insane was that. I had no idea i was walking around one of the biggest, most dangerous open air drug markets in the country.

He had a decent plan, but was dumb as fuck about going about it. He could of easily paid a crackhead $20 to do it. I'm sure there are plenty of people in philly who would of jumped at the chance to shoot a cop and walk away.
