ph wont go down...

I recently bought some fertilizer for my soil plants, its called gro-terra, and is for soil based mediums... I was told it wouldnt affect my ph..

So I have a 5 gallon container with a airator and some fertilizer in it telling me my ph is 8.0+

And it has been like this for about a week now, I dont know what to do, I have ph down stuff that has worked before, but I swear no matter how much i put in and wait and stir it tests the same...

I dont know what to do, I know I can just start over with more water, but thats a pain and then what? A waste of $$ on the fertilizer?

So, any recommendations from you awesome pot-gurus out there?

I know widowmaker LOOOOOVESS solving problems :-D

Ok... So either no one knows, or its such an easy answer that gets answered every day that I sould have found it myself.

Too bad its not in the growfaq and searching for "PH" gets you nowhere fast.

Dude ph down works, you have to be doing something wrong....it should only take a drop, not much at all

I unno, I got this stuff that is supposed to treat it, I wait a while anywhere from 30 min to 2 hrs... and it reads the same when I test it...

The water is always moving due to the rising bubbles... sooo... what am I missing? My test kit is pretty official, but the down stuff was just some cheap kit from a petshop for fish..

Could it be faulty ph down, or what?? I REALLY want these plants to live, if they live they will be replaced by some northern lights :-D

So yeah!

I have used the pH down from a pet store before and it's not very strong, i had to use alot. When i use the stuff i got from the hydro store it only takes a couple drops as it is much stronger.

yeah I use the legit hydrom shit.... in fact when it makes contact with your skin you should feel it burn a bit.:hump:

I just tested the ph for my tap water, and it reads the same as the 5 gallon container... 7.0

So i took test water from the container, put it in the test vial, and to test my ph down, I put the smallest drop I could manage into the vial as well.

And what do you know? The tester reads a ph of 4.0 or lower now...

So the ph down is working, the tester is working the only thing that isnt is the ph in my container.. I just dont get it, I want to start the jug over... but how? if the only way to refill it is with the same ph water that just isnt changing... :-(

Try using alot... atleast 4 milliliters per gallon i think. This stuff is weak compared to the stuff you get at the hydro store.

Edit: FYI they sell pH up and and down at rona and home depot, i attached a picture so you can see what it looks like.(I know that's pH up in the picture but they have both) They also sell this other pH up and down and that stuff comes in a black bottle.
