ph up/down question about ec

i just started using my new ec meter.

so i mixed up the first soup, which is supposed to be .5-1 ec. got it to .6 or .8 or something (with nutes), then adjusted ph, ec rose slightly. Now every few days, as i adjust the ph, the ec goes up, its upto 1.4.

Before i had a meter i didnt think about it, but whats the go? If the ec is supposed to be a certain level, but ph up/down alters ec, how do u keep a steady ec?

Remember that nutes are salt based so when the water evaporates the Ec will rise. If you just top off to your desired level it will bring the nute level back down. Just remember that when you top off to use ph balanced water

but the ph up/down are making the ec rise. For example, after 3 days after a fresh res change, not much water has been lost/evaporated, yet i've had to adjust the ph twice. So even after adding ph'd water back, (only a couple of litres), the ec is to high just from the ph adjustments i've done. I didn't think ph up/down would affect ec this much

And what are you using for water? I mean, what's the initial Ph and TDS of the water? If you're starting out with city water that has, say, a Ph of 9 and TDS of 400 PPM, you're down a touchdown and a field goal before your offense even gets on the field. Starting out with purified water may give you a lot more breathing room.
