pH up/down concentrate mix ratio

so i figured i could save a lot of money by getting the PH up and down in dry crystal (11$ will make many,many gallons) form instead of liquid (11$ a quart)

my question is what is the ratio to mix up a quart or gallon of this stuff to get a good ph down/up solution to use in my hydro?

they said to try a 1/4 tsp per quart to start...

You probably have potassium hydroxide; be careful with the stuff: its cousin sodium hydroxide is caustic lye. It will generate heat when dissolved, but 1/4 tsp per quart of water will be safe- the heat will be absorbed quickly. More concentrated solutions are much more dangerous.

Unless you get a better answer, my recommendation would be to create the 1/4 tsp per quart solution, and then add it dropwise to your reservoir, stirring thoroughly after each addition. Monitor the pH with a freshly calibrated probe, and see how much it goes up as the solution is added.

thanks i tried 1/4 tsp and it wasnt changing the pH much...had to use a lot.
so i remade some at 1/2 tsp and it worked much better.

going to keep checking it.

i am now up to 1 tsp. and i had to use almost a half bottle (quart) to lower a 7gal reservoir from 8 to 5.5

guess i will try a table spoon next batch.

someone else has to be using the GH dry pH crystals
