PH Solution Qeustion!

To keep my PH pen calibrated I bought extra PH packets. 6.86, 4.00 and 9.18 that's made for the pen. I mixed the 3 different solutions like stated in their own mason jars with sealed lids. How long will thr solution stay good for?

Really sheesh that sucks. So after I calibrate my pen. How long will it stay calibrated if I only use it once a week?

What kind of pen is it. Cheap ones need calibration often. Bluelab or Hanna once a month

I wouldn't trust that pH pen. I've had a few and all were essentially useless. On the cheap, pH drops are accurate, consistent, and never need calibration.

A decent pH pen, something from Apera, Bluelab, Hanna, etc. costs a lot more but you can be confident in the results.

Also make sure you used pure water, I made the mistake of using well water to calibrate mine and it was fucked. Ended up getting a more expensive pen when my plants started dying but I did not follow directions.

Cheap pen. Buy a bluelab or Hanna if you'd like accuracy.

If you make up the solution in a mason jar and have quite a bit of solution DO NOT dip your meter in the solution.

instead decant a small amount to dip your meter into and then discard the small solution.


this way you are keeping your stock solution (in the mason jar) contaminant free.

The drops are never wrong and never need calibration........and they're cheap.
Haven't owned a pH pen in decades.

Yah I have PH drops I love thrm, but when moc8ng my nutes and my eater turns brownish, the drops are useless.

Yah but when I mix my nutes up it turns dark then thr drops don't change the color. Lol

I use these for calibration....



Also, keep the tip(probe) in kcl storage solution at all times when not in use....



NEVER let the probe get dry.

No sweat. Just remember, calibrate once a month, and always put back into fresh storage solution when done metering. It'll last a whole hell of a lot longer if you do.
