buy ph up and down at home depot or lowes. You get a shit load of it for 7 bucks. Its where all the pool stuff is. Add it to your res to get your ph where you want it.

Don't worry about pH that early on. People make this mistake soo many times. Don't start dumping pH up and down into your res. I haven't checked pH for a plant in YEARS. I have a seedling going now, it's on 5 days since sprout and the pH is whatever, I don't have a clue to be honest. I don't check it and I don't pH up or down it. People will disagree with me blah blah blah, but a seedling doesn't need or use nutrients so why are you worried about the pH? All it's doing is uptaking water. When you start adding nutrients to the water, depending on what you use they have buffers in them so checking pH is even more pointless.

But you can use pH down if you choose to, I have and it works.

In my F&D system I use dolomite lime from a lumber yard. I use a color tester and I add just enough to turn it almost yellow but still green, about 5.5ph on this color chart. 6.5ph is hard green on this scale. The water I use comes in blue around 7 or more because the scale drops off at 7ph. I do this one everytime I change the water every 5-7 days. Every so often I do a run at seven to chech the run off of the table and do minor adjustments. I use the spent water from my budders on my mothers and it keeps them happy and green.

You must live in a city with good water then. Where i live the ph of the tap water is 7.5. When i water my plants with it, it makes my medium 7.1 which gives me a minor phosphorus lock out. So for some grows it can be a need. Id trade shoes with you though, it'd save me some money lol.

Did you soak your rockwool? I soak my rockwool in pH balanced water for like 2 hours to rinse out sediment and to neutralize some of that pH shifting
