ok so ive been dealing with ph problems since i started growing and now is when im starting to get a handle on them but here is my question i PH everything before i water and my tap water comes out at about 7.5-8 and when i run it through the plant it dropped a point.............and when i run the nutrient water it comes out like at a 5-6 ph......is it normal that when you run the nutrient water it comes out the bottem like fucking battery acid? i use the fox farm trio gallon potts and they are 4 weeks into flower

if the runn off is coming out at 5 it probably means the soil is around 4.5.........still did not answer my question tho thx for trying............is it normal that when i add nutes the runn of dropps 1 point from when i did the runnoff test with pure water? is there a specific ph your plant should be after nutes are added

i water my soiless(promix-bx close but not the same as FF) at 6.2 ... i dont worry about the runoff ph at all .. just watch your ladies and you will know if your in the right ballpark or not .. i think optimum ph is between 5.8 and 6.5(although not positive) my runoff is about 5.2 but like i said i dont worry about it if my plants look healthy ... just make sure you mix all your nutes in before you ph your water

also i dont use tap water ... mine here is way too hard , i use distilled and add calmag to it along with my reg nutes ... like i said ph of 6.2 works well for me

It likely means you have a bit of a nute buildup in your soil, and when you add water/ferts, they re-dissolve, making whatever you've poured in, much stronger, and hence....dropping PH. It's pretty unavoidable, because it's near impossible to have your plants take in ALL the nutes you pour in, which leaves an excess behind. I've never experimented with this, but I'm assuming that if you tried to feed them the absolute minimum, you'd end up with deficiencies, in some area/s. I used to always flush my plants at about week 7, or so, flushing til the PPMs were 100 or less, and til the PH was neutral. Worked great, but I'm a bit lazier now,lol and have just backed off my feeding, and add lime(top dressing) at around week 6-7, which also works well.

P.S. I need that $5 before I leave for work, so I can grab a couple slices of pizza, on the way.....lol

Couple flushes will help. Soil is prob not draining well enough. Do you show signs of nute burn? You plant will keep taking nutes and burn itself. 6-6.3 is good for soil.

yeah i noticed the soil gets really compact and dosent absorb water fast so i assum it not draining to well i added some perlite to my mg organic soil and i should be done with that problem my next rotation

so thats it i guess Dolomite and perlite THAT'S DYNAMITE!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, get and use the dolomite and perlite, then be done with all this convoluted stuff.

Grow with sunshine number 4 as the medium. Already has dolomite. I never really worry about ph. But I use earth juice so I don't need to worry about salt build up. Its water and go with most strains. I'm transitioning some big walker girls from the guys nute I got it from to my organinc earth juice. Problem is this plant is far more finiky than most and probably won't do well. Good think I can just start fresh with clones either way.

This.

PH is either the most important thing in a grow or the least.
If you do very minor things its such a non-issue
if you lose control of it however the grow is lost.
The number your posting are not bad at all. Runoff in the 5-6 range may not be totally ideal but it should not be sinking you're ship either.
Around < 4 and > 8 and you'll see major issues.
Most bagged soil runs off pretty low at first....
Dolimite is you're friend (for more then just PH too!)

Just buy a huge bag of each for basically nothing from any garden store...no need to buy expensive soils.

to the op it doesn;t matter what your ph of water is what matters is when all your nutes is mixed then check ph and adjust accordingly my tap water is 7.8 when all my nutes is mixed it drops it down to 6.9 i am good to go then if your adjusting you water before nutes added thats a no no reason being is most nutrients have a ph buffer solution in it
so what has happened here is your ph was initialy low this causeing nute build up in your soil you need to have run off ph of 6.4 to 7.0 closer to 7 the better all round if this help you out

I see what you mean the only time I test the ph of plain water is to do the runn-off test and my fox farm drops ph to like 5 so i need ph up.......other than that i and i runn half a gallon of plain water through my plants or till the runn of is 600 ppm every other watering.
