Well lads,

I bought a ph meter of amazon no brand name juz a 10e one. When i first got it and calibrated it it worked fine. Now after a few months after taking a reading and rinsing it in tap water the reading never returns back to zero, is this normal or is it fucked?

I don’t think you should rinse with tap water, maybe de-ionised or RO.

It won’t go back to zero anyway because it’s constantly reading PH levels while it’s on. Zero would be a super acidic solution. They usually hover around 6-7 when you turn it on until you submerge it in a solution, I have 3 different meters and they all do this.

PH zero means extremely acidic, not no reading lol

You need to use a Storage liquid and keep the tip moist
I refresh mine once a week and yes yours is probably a lost cause

Sound for the replys lad, ill stay going with it for now better than nothing and ill upgrade later on

I don’t use any storage liquids, I calibrate them every 2-3 months... Never far out... maybe 0.1 - 0.3. You’re probably fine pal i wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

Except thats not the correct way and you will find the more exspensive ones replacable and built to store in the Kcl storage fluid as standard.

Lol while I don’t doubt that is the correct way, I’ve bought cheap ones, rinse them in de-ionised, and calibrate them periodically. Haven’t had any issues. Though I do have litmus for backup!

I’d rather buy 7 shitty ones at £10 each over a year than one good one for £70, makes me feel like I’m getting more for my money :)
