So the lowest I'm able to get the ph of the water in my res is 6.0, I use tap water that I de-chlorinate and let sit for 24hrs, is the tap water the reason? If so I need to invest in distiller water I believe

Depends on what medium your using. 6.0 is not that bad. hydro 5.5-5-9, soil 6.2-6.8. all strain dependent. Buy some ph down or use a lemon to bring your ph down if you want.

I'm confused......are you using ph down and cant put enough in to get to 5.5-5.8? Distilled water isn't a great idea unless your rich and don't mind paying that much for water that has no real use in a garden.....maybe an r.o machine. Sure glad I have a well, free nutrient rich water LOL.

A gallon of General Hydroponics ph up and down are like $25 each. If you're talking about the returned water after a feeding, then a swing is natural for the first few weeks, depending on the medium. I usually have to throw a couple of ounces a day in my res (40 gallons) for the first week or so, then it stabolizes.
